International audience; Purpose: Nontruncating variants in SMARCA2, encoding a catalytic subunit of SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complex, cause Nicolaides-Baraitser syndrome (NCBRS), a condition with intellectual disability and multiple congenital anomalies. Other disorders due to SMARCA2 are unknown.Methods: By next-generation sequencing, we identified candidate variants in SMARCA2 in 20 individuals from 18 families with a syndromic neurodevelopmental disorder not consistent with NCBRS. The Wnt signal acts by binding to Frizzled receptors, with the subsequent activation of two different signal transduction cascades, the canonical and the non-canonical Wnt pathways, involved in cell growth, differentiation, migration and fate. The canonical pathway functions through the translocation of beta-catenin to the nucleus and the activation of TCF/LEF transcription factors; it plays an important role in developmental patterning and cell fate decisions during embryogenesis. Regional and modular expression of morphogenetic factors in the demosponge Lubomirskia baicalensis

Some sponges [phylum Porifera], e.g. the demosponges Lubomirskia baicalensis or Axinella polypoides, show an arborescent growth form. In the freshwater sponge L. baicalensis this morphotype is seen mostly in depths below 4 m while in more shallow regions it grows as a crust. The different growth forms are determined in nature very likely by water current and/or light. The branches of this species are composed of modules, arranged along the apical-basal axis. Toxicity of mycotoxins in vivo on vertebrate organisms: A review.

Mycotoxins are considered to be a major risk factor affecting human and animal health as they are one of the most dangerous contaminants of food and feed. This review aims to compile the research developed up to date on the toxicological effects that mycotoxins can induce on human health, through the examination of a selected number of studies in vivo. AFB1 shows to be currently the most studied mycotoxin in vivo, followed by DON, ZEA and OTA. Scarce data was found for FBs, PAT, CIT, AOH and Fusarium emerging mycotoxins. The nuclear protein Sge1 of Fusarium oxysporum is required for parasitic growth

Dimorphism or morphogenic conversion is exploited by several pathogenic fungi and is required for tissue invasion and/or survival in the host. We have identified a homolog of a master regulator of this morphological switch in the plant pathogenic fungus Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici. This non-dimorphic fungus causes vascular wilt disease in tomato by penetrating the plant roots and colonizing the vascular tissue. Identification of a putative regulator of early-histone gene expression of Paracentrotus lividus

Drosophila GAGA factor (GAF) is a nuclear protein, conserved along evolution, with multiple roles in gene regulation, chromatin remodelling, Polycomb-dependent silencing, and insulator functions (1). GAF recognizes and specifically binds GAGAG consensus DNA motif by its C2H2-type zinc-finger domain, and interacts with other regulatory factors by its BTB/POZ domain. We have identified plGaga, a cDNA coding for a putative GAF of the sea urchin P. lividus, which showed significant sequence similarity with Drosophila and vertebrate GAFs.
