Higher education teachers’ descriptions of their own learning: a quantitative perspective

In this large-scale study, higher education teachers’ (n = 1028) descriptions of their own learning are examined with quantitative analyses. The study follows up an earlier qualitative study that, using a phenomenographic approach, identified four different ways in which teachers at Finnish universities of applied sciences described their own learning. The purpose of the present study was to find out how teachers’ descriptions were divided into the categories formed in the previous study and to examine whether teachers’ descriptions of their learning differ according to their position, gender and age. La colmena novela y La colmena filme son dos géneros narrativos cuyos procesos de textualización, si bien remiten a la misma historia, difieren entre sí. Por su parte, en la película, el relato cinematográfico opera narrativa y descriptivamente a partir de la secuenciación de imágenes en las que coexisten entre otros elementos: acción, espacios, movimiento y diálogos de personajes. El resultado es una concreción de la historia dada en forma multimodal. En la novela todo es verbal, discursivo: la textualización es una sucesión de formas lingüísticas con poder evocador. Two biallelic polymorphisms in introns 3 and 6 of the p53 gene were analysed for a possible risk-modifying effect for ovarian cancer. Germline DNA was genotyped from 310 German Caucasian ovarian cancer patients and 364 healthy controls. We also typed 124 affected and 276 unaffected female carriers with known deleterious BRCA1 or BRCA2 germline mutation from high-risk breast-ovarian cancer families. Genotyping was based on PCR and high-resolution gel electrophoresis. Endoderm development requires centrioles to restrain p53-mediated apoptosis in the absence of ERK activity

Centrioles comprise the heart of centrosomes, microtubule-organizing centers. To study the function of centrioles in lung and gut development, we genetically disrupted centrioles throughout the mouse endoderm. Surprisingly, removing centrioles from the endoderm did not disrupt intestinal growth or development but blocked lung branching. In the lung, acentriolar SOX2-expressing airway epithelial cells apoptosed. Loss of centrioles activated p53, and removing p53 restored survival of SOX2-expressing cells, lung branching, and mouse viability.
