2019 revised algorithm for the management of knee osteoarthritis: the Southeast Asian viewpoint

Abstract Background Since 2014, the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases (ESCEO) algorithm for the management of knee osteoarthritis (OA) is available worldwide. Aim Based on this document, a Southeast Asia Working Group (SEAWG) wished to see how the new ESCEO algorithm developed in 2019 was perceived by Southeast Asian experts and how it was integrated into their clinical practice. Methods A SEAWG was set up between members of the international ESCEO task force and a group of Southeast Asian experts. Results Non-pharmacological management should always be combined with pharmacological management. In step 1, symptoma…

Le vieillissement des personnes en situation de handicap : un regard démographique sur la Bourgogne-Franche-Comté

2018

The aging of people with disabilities has become, in the last forty years, a significant issue in the medico-social sector and also in our society. The lengthening of life is a positive phenomenon, a result of the efforts to professionalize the accompaniment of people with disabilities. Aging is a process, certainly irreversible, but natural. If a few people are the rare witnesses, in the 1980s, the phenomenon grows with time and becomes a demographic phenomenon. For the demographer, the notion of aging applies to a population and not to individuals. The observation of this process makes it possible to predict the trend of the changing needs of a population in the health, social and medico-…

2019

This thesis studies the specific relationship that develops between the staff, the residents and their family and friends in retirement homes for dependents elderly in a rural environment. The aim is to analyse the creation process by the actors to go from an acquaintanceship network to an interdependence network and how each adapts, reorganise, more or less, among facilities where the legislator codified strongly the relational framework. The arrival to a retirement home marks, in all cases, a strong biographical break. For a little of people, it means having to accept abandoning a significant part of their past life. It forces the residents to (re)build themselves a new identity, a new stat…

Un escarpement sous-marin permanent du Lias à l'Eocène, dans la dorsale calcaire Péloritaine (Sicile, Italie)

1999

The schistosity of the Palaeozoic basement of the Capo San Andrea unit (Peloritan Dorsale) is cut by Liassic to Eocene neptunian dykes which developed along a pelagic fault scarp exposed on the sea bottom for 140 My. The Mesozoic structures determined the location of the Alpine deformation.

Staged Wrecks: The Railroad Crash Between Infrastructural Lesson and Amusement

2019

To explore infrastructures and publics from a historical perspective, in this paper I will focus on the entangled development of transport infrastructures in the nineteenth century on the one hand and the rise of amusement cultures on the other. More specifically, I will examine a phenomenon that became popular at US State Fairs at the end of the century, namely staged railroad crashes with two steam locomotives.

IgG Subclass Distribution of Autoantibodies to Glomerular Basement Membrane in Goodpasture’s Syndrome Compared to Other Autoantibodies

1988

The IgG subclass distribution of autoantibodies to glomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM antibodies) was investigated and compared to the distribution of liver-kidney microsomal (LKM) autoantibodies in chronic active hepatitis, to antimitochondrial autoantibodies (AMA) in primary biliary cirrhosis, and to the subclass distribution of total serum IgG within a healthy population. Solid phase assays for the demonstration of these autoantibodies were performed with four mouse monoclonal antibodies specific for each human subclass to provide quantitative data for the autoantibodies. In addition, the subclass distribution of total IgG in these sera was analyzed. IgG1 accounted for 75% of the tot…
