Purpose The purpose of this study is to identify factors that foster or prevent sense of belonging among frontline and middle managers in social and health-care services in Finland. Design/methodology/approach The data have been collected among social and health-care managers (n = 135; 64 per cent nursing managers) through two open-ended questions in a questionnaire concerning sense of community. Levels and change in autonomous and controlled work motivation in older workers—The role of proximity to retirement and sense of community at work

Previous studies suggest a preretirement disengagement process from work, which includes reduced work motivation. In this study, we investigated changes in autonomous and controlled work motivation over two years among participants of the Health, Aging and Retirement Transition in Sweden (HEARTS) study. We found stability in both types of motivation; however, those who retired after the study period showed more distinct declines in autonomous motivation. A stronger sense of community at work was related to level, but not change in autonomous motivation. Intra-individual fluctuations in the expected retirement age did not predict work motivation or vice versa. Future studies are needed to be…

Heritage tourism is an established research canon. However, corporate heritage tourism is an emerging research stream that integrates the heritage tourism canon and corporate brand attributes. This study, utilising a conceptual approach and proposing a conceptual model, explicates the role of social media (marketer and consumer-generated media) in fostering a sense of community among the corporate heritage tourism brand adherents and visit intention among members of the community. This study examines the process through which children build a sense of community in small groups in a day care centre. The study asks the following: how does children’s sense of community develop, and what are its key features? Data were collected by applying ethnographic methods in a group of three- to five-year-old children over eleven months. This meta-analytic review examines the relationships between students' sense of school belonging and students' motivational, social-emotional, behavioural, and academic functioning in secondary education. Moreover, it examines to what extent these relationships differ between different student groups (grade level, SES), measurement instruments, and region. The meta-analysis included 82 correlational studies, published in peer-reviewed journals between 2000 and 2018. Lo scopo del presente contributo è stato quello di analizzare come l’identificazione etnica (ingroup ed outgroup) e la discriminazione percepita (come straniero o come partner di coppia mista) siano legati al senso di comunità (SdC) dei partner stranieri delle famiglie interculturali residenti in Spagna e in Italia.
