Understanding Social OER Environments—A Quantitative Study on Factors Influencing the Motivation to Share and Collaborate

2014

Social software environments are increasingly used for open education: teachers and learners share and collaborate in these environments. While there are various possibilities for the inclusion of such social functionalities for OER, many organizational, individual and technological challenges can hinder the motivation of teachers to share and collaborate in these environments. Current research cannot explain what barriers teachers face in social OER environments and how those challenges influence their motivation to engage in such environments. An exploratory factor analysis was used in the context of schools and higher education institutions to investigate the possible barriers to engagin…

Introduction to the designing and deploying next generation knowledge systems and knowledge intensive business processes minitrack

2013

Work systems and the knowledge systems enabling them need to be aligned with emerging technologies to ensure organizational acceptance and to support effective organizational value creation. Traditional, often monolithic knowledge system architectures need to be redesigned due to technological progress manifested by, for example, social software, mashups, and semantic technologies. In our view, these redesigns lead to a new class of knowledge systems that we call “Next Generation Knowledge Systems.” Project management (PM) involved in the design and deployment of knowledge systems differs from the PM involved in traditional IS projects. While design projects are essential in creating next g…

End-users Co-create Shared Information for a More Complete Real-time Maritime Picture

2017

European Union Member States are working towards an integrated maritime surveillance and deeper information sharing and implementation of Common Information Sharing Environment. Value networks aiming at co-creation, need active facilitation, and relevant platforms for open cooperation. This study analysed scenario analytics, and narrative documents from projects CoopP, CISE, and MARISA by using a Data Extraction Table to classify both objects and phenomenon relevant to European maritime information sharing systems. The object and phenomenon rows are grouped under a European Coast Guard Functions, CGFs framework, to better understand their occurrence and interdependencies. This paper finds t…

Determinants of Individual Knowledge Innovation Behavior

2021

With the upsurge of "emotional storm" in the field of organizational behavior, the studies on individual emotions in organizational context are rising. Especially the relationship between emotions and knowledge innovation has attracted much attention by scholars. In particular, individual emotions may exert great effect on knowledge innovation whereas the mechanism is still unclear. Based on the emotional event theory, this paper constructs a model which explores the interaction of positive and negative emotions with individual knowledge innovation. Based on questionnaire data analysis, the results show that knowledge sharing partly mediate the relationship between positive emotion and know…

Information sharing in the era of social media

2016

Social media has become ubiquitous in just a few years. Their success depends on users’ willingness to continue investing their time and attention in this media and share their knowledge with each other in the absence of formal contract. This thesis attempts to examine social media users’ information sharing activities with three essays. Specifically, this thesis investigates 1 Why do social networking sites (SNS) users have online information privacy? 2 What are the antecedents of blog users’ online information privacy concerns? and 3 Why virtual team members want to sharing knowledge among each other in social media platform? Enhancing the European Cyber Threat Prevention Mechanism

2021

This research will determine how it is possible to implement the national cyber threat prevention system into the EU level Early Warning System. Decision makers have recognized that the lack of cooperation between EU member countries affects public safety at the international level. Separate operational functions and procedures between national cyber situation centers create challenges. One main problem is that the European Union does not have a common cyber ecosystem concerning intrusion detection systems for cyber threats. Also, privacy and citizens’ security as topics are set against each other. The research will comprise a new database for the ECHO Early Warning System concept.

Social Media as Platform for Stimulating Urban Changes

2016

Images have always been an important part of city planning – current images of place, images with planned improvements, maps and sketches. Some time ago all that was a private property of stakeholders like planner and client. But nowadays this confidentiality rather much has vanished – no copyrights or competition is noteworthy. Plans do not have their privacy anymore. They are exposed even before they got implemented. This article will display why city planners share the images of their ideas, of their dreams in public (mostly in blogs and social networks) – why it is important for them and what kind of feedback they are waiting for. This article is based on case study where 12 respondents…

Pricavy-Preserving Aspects for Data Mining in ICT Services

The steady adoption of systems for profiling users behavior, collecting and critically interpreting as much information as possible about likes and dislikes, interests and habits of Internet residents and generic services consumers have rapidly become some of the hottest keywords within networking research community. Indeed, mining information about users behavior is an advantage for both service providers and service customers: on one side, providers can improve their revenues by focusing on the most successful features of their services, while on the other side, users can enjoy services which reflect closer their specific needs. There are many examples of user profiling applications. Inte…
