Multipole analysis of pion photoproduction based on fixed t dispersion relations and unitarity

We have analysed pion photoproduction imposing constraints from fixed t dispersion relations and unitarity. Coupled integral equations for the S and P wave multipoles were derived from the dispersion relations and solved by the method of Omnes and Muskhelishvili. Energy distribution of ternaryαparticles in spontaneous fission ofCf252

The energy distribution of the ternary $\ensuremath{\alpha}$ particles in spontaneous fission of $^{252}\mathrm{Cf}$ was measured. For the first time an energy threshold as low as 1 MeV was reached. The experiment used an array of unshielded silicon detectors measuring energy and time-of-flight (TOF) of ternary particles in coincidence with fission fragments. The TOF resolution of the system was sufficient for clear separation of $^{6}\mathrm{He}$ and tritons from $^{4}\mathrm{He}$. The statistics were adequate to extract the $^{6}\mathrm{He}$/$^{4}\mathrm{He}$ yield ratio. A novel Si strip array to investigate reaction and decay mechanisms

Abstract The performance of a novel set-up of double-sided silicon micro-strip detectors (DSSD) developed for the GSI-R3B project (reaction studies with relativistic radioactive beams) is presented. The set-up was used in an experiment aimed at measuring the two-proton decay of 19 Mg. This experiment required to record simultaneously protons and the residual nuclei with good position and energy resolution. Our experimental results show that both protons and heavy ions ranging from Z  = 2 up to Z  = 12 can be identified with good signal-to-noise ratio and high energy and spatial resolution. High-resolution (3He,t) reaction on the double-βdecaying nucleus136Xe

A (${}^{3}\text{He},t$) charge-exchange reaction experiment on the double-beta decaying nucleus ${}^{136}$Xe has been performed at an incident energy of 420 MeV with the objective to measure the Gamow-Teller (GT) strength distribution in ${}^{136}$Cs. The measurements have been carried out at the dispersion-matched WS beam line and the Grand Raiden spectrometer of the Research Center for Nuclear Physics in Osaka, where an energy resolution of 42 keV was achieved. A new gas cell with thin windows made of polyethylene naphthalate has been employed as a target. A CdTe position sensitive spectrometer for hard X- and soft γ-ray polarimetry

Coded Imager and Polarimeter for High Energy Radiation (CIPHER) is a hard X- and soft gamma- ray spectroscopic and polarimetric coded mask telescope based on an array of Cadmium telluride microspectrometers. The position sensitive detector (PSD) will be arranged in 4 modules of 32 x 32 crystals, each of 2 x 2 mm(2) cross-section and 10 mm thickness giving a total active area of about 160 cm(2), operating over a wide energy range (similar to10 keV to 1 MeV). Light-by-light scattering sum rules constraining meson transition form factors

Relating the forward light-by-light scattering to energy weighted integrals of the \gamma* \gamma -fusion cross sections, with one real photon (\gamma) and one virtual photon (\gamma*), we find two new exact super-convergence relations. They complement the known super-convergence relation based on the extension of the GDH sum rule to the light-light system. We also find a set of sum rules for the low-energy photon-photon interaction. All of the new relations are verified here exactly at leading order in scalar and spinor QED. Background: Fifty percent of the heavy element abundances are produced via slow neutron capture reactions in different stellar scenarios. Shell effects in damped collisions ofSr88withYb176at the Coulomb barrier energy

This work is a study of the influence of shell effects on the formation of binary fragments in damped collision. We have investigated binary reaction channels of the composite system with $Z=108$ produced in the reaction $^{88}\mathrm{Sr}$${+}^{176}$Yb at an energy slightly above the Bass barrier (${E}_{\text{c.m.}}/{E}_{\text{Bass}}=1.03$). Reaction products were detected by using the two-arm time-of-flight spectrometer CORSET at the K130 cyclotron of the Department of Physics, University of Jyv\"askyl\"a.
