NanoMORALs: Metal Nanoparticles Doped with Organic Molecules

A new class of nanosized metal–organic alloys (MORALs) has been synthesized for the first time. Silver nanoparticles doped with Cu(II) and Fe(III) phthalocyanines were thus synthesized in the presence of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). The resulting materials were characterized by means of XRD, SEM, TEM coupled to energy dispersive X-ray analysis, and thermogravimetric analysis. No leaching of the photoactive dopant species was observed in water or in common organic solvents.

Characterization of Hydrophilic Gold(I) N-Heterocyclic Carbene (NHC) Complexes as Potent TrxR Inhibitors Using Biochemical and Mass Spectrometric App…

We report here on the synthesis of a series of mono-and dinuclear gold(I) complexes exhibiting sulfonated bis(NHC) ligands and novel hydroxylated mono(NHC) Au(I) compounds, which were also examined for their 'biological activities. Initial cell viability assays show strong antiproliferative activities of the hydroxylated mono(NHC) gold compounds (8 > 9 > 10) against 2008 human ovarian cancer cells even after 1 h incubation. Mechanical and dentin bond strength properties of the nanosilver enriched glass ionomer cement

Background The aim of this study was to investigate the mechanical properties and dentin microshear bond strength of a conventional glass ionomer cement (GIC) compared to GIC supplemented with silver nanoparticles (SNPs) at 0.1% and 0.2% (w/w). Material and Methods SNPs were incorporated into a conventional GIC at 0.1% and 0.2% (w/w). The unmodified GIC was used as the control group. Compressive strength, flexural strength, and micro-shear bond strength (µSBS) to dentin were evaluated using a universal testing machine. Silverlight-teknologialla voidaan tehdä mm. näyttäviä web- ja mobiilisovelluksia. Tutkielmassa selvitetään Silverlightin soveltuvuutta verkkojen piirto-ohjelman tekemiseen. Tutkielmassa ohjelmoitiin piirto-ohjelma, joka havainnollistaa ratsun polun etsintää shakkilaudalla. Ohjelman kehitysprosessin aikana huomattiin, että Silverlight soveltuu tutkielman mittaluokan verkoille. Silverlight-sovellus saattaa kuitenkin hidastua, jos sovellukseen tuodaan reaaliaikaisia tapahtumia vaativia tai pelimäisiä elementtejä. Tällöin voi olla järkevää vaihtaa XNA-kehitykseen Windows-ympäristössä.
