Subjective well-being of elderly people in a social care home in the process of participation

Elderly people feel isolated from their former living place and they need social pedagogical support in the course of integration in a social care home. The integration of elderly people in a social environment is made more difficult because of the possible necessity of participation in the social life. The theoretical analysis has resulted in doing research on the theoretical content of the process of aging as well as in defining well-being and participation indicators. The research has been done in order to broaden the participation possibilities in a social care home, and as a result of the integration process to achieve the elderly people’s subjective well-being.

The Systemic Practice Model (SPM) is a Finnish adaptation of the Reclaiming Social Work (RSW) model, which incorporates systemic ideas and practice into children’s social care. This study is the first attempt to evaluate the effectiveness of the RSW model outside England. The study employed a quasi-experimental repeated measures design. Questionnaires assessing child- and family-level outcomes and the quantity (i.e., number of meetings) and quality (i.e., service user feedback) of the practice were administered to social workers, children and parents twice over a six-month follow-up period. Patterns of conflict and enrichment in work-family balance: A three-dimensional typology

Abstract A four-dimensional typology of work-family balance (WFB) that has previously been reported was tested in four samples: Finnish nurses (n=662), Slovenian nurses (n=667), Finnish health and social care workers (n=1493) and Finnish service sector employees (n=827). Family carers and lack of personal time: Descriptions of being outside the sphere of formal help

The aim of this article is to study manifestations of uncomfortable familial commitments. The connection of such commitments to informal family carers' descriptions of problems in accessibility of services and to descriptions of preferences regarding limited use of formal help is examined.
