All optical solition-based 2R regeneration at 170 Gbps

[NMB4]; International audience; We report the numerical and experimental studies of a spectrally filtered-based all-optical 2R regenerator at 170 Gbps. The fiber device is combined with a fast saturable absorber. BER assessment exhibits a receiver sensitivity improvement.
Second zero dispersion wavelength measurement through soliton self-frequency shift compensation in suspended core fibre

International audience; A simple experimental technique to evaluate the second zero dispersion wavelength of very small core microstrutured fibres is described. Based on the effect of soliton self-frequency shift and its subsequent compensation in the vicinity of the second zero dispersion. the proposed method is applied to both standard and suspended core microstructured fibres by simply measuring the frequency stabilised soliton spectrum, avoiding any calculation and knowledge of any experimental parameters.
Universal soliton pattern formations in passively mode-locked fiber lasers

International audience; We investigate multiple-soliton pattern formations in a figure-of-eight passively mode-locked fiber laser. Operation in the anomalous dispersion regime with a double-clad fiber amplifier allows generation of up to several hundreds of solitons per round trip. We report the observation of remarkable soliton distributions: soliton gas, soliton liquid, soliton polycrystal, and soliton crystal, thus indicating the universality of such complexes.
18 parameter deformations of the Peregrine breather of order 10 solutions of the NLS equation

We present here new solutions of the focusing one-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation which appear as deformations of the Peregrine breather of order 10 with 18 real parameters. With this method, we obtain new families of quasi-rational solutions of the NLS equation, and we obtain explicit quotients of polynomial of degree 110 in x and t by a product of an exponential depending on t. We construct new patterns of different types of rogue waves and recover the triangular configurations as well as rings and concentric rings as found for the lower-orders.
Rational solutions to the mKdV equation associated to particular polynomials

International audience; Rational solutions to the modified Korteweg-de Vries (mKdV) equation are given in terms of a quotient of determinants involving certain particular polynomials. This gives a very efficient method to construct solutions. We construct very easily explicit expressions of these rational solutions for the first orders n = 1 until 10.

The concept of genidentity has been proposed as a way to better understand identity through time, especially in physics and biology. The genidentity view is utterly anti-substantialist in so far as it suggests that the identity of X through time does not presuppose whatsoever the existence of a permanent “core” or “substrate” of X. Yet applications of this concept to real science have been scarce and unsatisfying. National audience; Cette Communication porte sur une étude numérique visant à montrer les conditions d'existence du phénomène de supratransmission dans un milieu gouverné par l'équation de sine-gordon à couplage mixte: le couplage linéaire pur étant associé à un couplage non linéaire. Nous montrons également l'effet de la variation du coefficient du couplage non linéaire sur l'amplitude de seuil du signal excitateur nécessaire pour déclencher le phénomène de supratransmission dans le milieu, en maintenant constant le coefficient du couplage linéaire pur.

We report on spatial solitons via twin-beam second-harmonic-generation in two-dimensional quadratically nonlinear lattices realized by periodic poling in lithium niobate planar waveguides. These simultons can be steered by acting on the fundamental frequency input.
Soliton solutions for an higher order nonlinear Schroedinger equation in optical fiber

The new improvements to increase the bit rate in optical fiber require the propagation of pulse whose temporal width is always lesser. This causes the presence of further terms, linear and nonlinear, in the evolution equation of the pulse. The analysis on the complete integrability of the evolution equation, in a fiber optics with local properties and achieved in a previous paper, is improved dealing with the normal dispersion case, which allows the dark soliton propagation. In the last section special efforts are made to propose some interesting soliton solutions both bright and dark.
