Do absolute pitch possessors have a field independent cognitive style?

The factors contributing to the development of absolute pitch (AP) are still not fully understood. It seems to be neither completely inherited nor completely teachable. This study tested the hypothesis, that individual differences in cognitive style influence AP development. Specifically, it investigated whether adult AP possessors can be characterized by a field independent cognitive style while handling visual and musical tasks. Thirty professional musicians performed tests of absolute and relative pitch abilities, a visual and a musical task measuring field independence, and visual tasks measuring intellectual functioning. Data from current medium-spatial-resolution imaging spectroradiometers are used for land-cover mapping and land-cover change detection at regional to global scales. However, few landscapes are homogeneous at these scales, and this creates the so-called mixed-pixel problem. In this context, this study explores the use of the linear spectral mixture model to extract subpixel land-cover composition from medium-spatial-resolution data. We study the steady-state system of aerotaxis equations in higher dimensions.It is shown that the existence and multiplicity of solutions depend on the totalmass of the colony of bacteria, the energy function, and the boundary conditions.

Bitter compounds such as limonoids, which consist of oxygenated triterpenoid compounds, are present in citrus fruits. Removal of limonoids from citrus fruits is of considerable importance for the citrus industry. Researchers have removed limonoids from citrus fruits and citrus byproducts using organic solvents. The objective of this study was to use a simpler method to remove limonoids from citrus byproducts.
