Algorithms for transforming an integral photography into a plenoptic picture

We report a simple algorithm for transforming the set of elemental images captured with an integral-photography set up, into the set of micro-images ready to be projected into an integral-imaging monitor. The method is based in the transposing relation between an integral photography and a plenoptic picture. The reported technique permits to adapt the integral images to the resolution and size of the monitor.

Formation of real, orthoscopic integral images by smart pixel mapping.

Integral imaging systems are imaging devices that provide 3D images of 3D objects. When integral imaging systems work in their standard configuration the provided reconstructed images are pseudoscopic; that is, are reversed in depth. In this paper we present, for the first time we believe, a technique for formation of real, undistorted, orthoscopic integral images by direct pickup. The technique is based on a smart mapping of pixels of an elemental-images set. Simulated imaging experiments are presented to support our proposal.

Review of High Resolution Thermal Infrared Applications and Requirements: The Fuegosat Synthesis Study

High resolution thermal infrared remote sensing can have a wide range of applications. In this chapter we describe the different applications and requirements identified after a revision study in the framework of the Fuegosat Synthesis Study (FSS). This project was funded by the European Space Agency (ESA), and the three main objectives were: (i) review of applications and analyses for user requirements, (ii) consolidation of user requirements over a broad range of applications, and (iii) matching of user requirements and industry concepts to identify and outline a set of potential mission scenarios and their corresponding requirements. Low spatial resolution satellite sensors provide information over relatively large targets with typical pixel resolutions of hundreds of km2. However, the spatial scales of ground measurements are usually much smaller. Such differences in spatial scales makes the interpretation of comparisons between quantities derived from low resolution sensors and ground measurements particularly difficult. It also highlights the importance of developing appropriate sampling strategies when designing ground campaigns for validation studies of low resolution sensors. Two-Sided Estimates of the Solution Set for the Reaction–Diffusion Problem with Uncertain Data

We consider linear reaction–diffusion problems with mixed Dirichlet–Neumann–Robin conditions. The diffusion matrix, reaction coefficient, and the coefficient in the Robin boundary condition are defined with an uncertainty which allow bounded variations around some given mean values. A solution to such a problem cannot be exactly determined (it is a function in the set of “possible solutions” formed by generalized solutions related to possible data). The problem is to find parameters of this set. Existence of a traveling wave solution in a free interface problem with fractional order kinetics

Abstract In this paper we consider a system of two reaction-diffusion equations that models diffusional-thermal combustion with stepwise ignition-temperature kinetics and fractional reaction order 0 α 1 . We turn the free interface problem into a scalar free boundary problem coupled with an integral equation. The main intermediary step is to reduce the scalar problem to the study of a non-Lipschitz vector field in dimension 2. The latter is treated by qualitative topological methods based on the Poincare-Bendixson Theorem. The phase portrait is determined and the existence of a stable manifold at the origin is proved. In the hydrologic literature, to model water flow in unsaturated soils, the Richards equation is usually applied, allowing the main components of the hydrologic cycle, as rainfall partitioning into surface runoff and infiltration, to be determined.
