The Literary Construction of Journalism Education: A Review of the Course Literature in the Nordic Academic Journalism Programmes

This article investigates the course literature in the curricula of 12 major journalism schools at Northern European universities. This analysis of the course literature listed in documentation of bachelor programmes traces how journalism education institutions constitute their knowledge base on journalism. It is found that Nordic journalism students are required to read almost four books per study credit on average. Undergraduate academic journalism programmes are professionally oriented, and professional literature by non-scientific publishers occupies a major place in the course literature. We also examined whether detachment attenuates the relationship between high workload and these outcomes both cross-sectionally and over time. Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan ihmisten kokemassa hyvinvoinnissa tapahtuneita muutoksia Euroopan talouskriisin aikana. Lisäksi tarkastellaan hyvinvointiin yhteydessä olevia tekijöitä ja erityisesti sosiaalisen pääoman vaikutusta. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to ask: what are the temporal realities of female knowledge workers? It especially focusses on women’s possibilities of using working-time autonomy, and the work and non-work practices that shape their possibility to use work-hour autonomy. In knowledge work, working-time autonomy is usually high, but exercising autonomy is not always possible. The study was carried out in Finland, where full-time work is common also among women, even if they have small children. Lasten osallisuus on yksi tämän hetken ajankohtaisista keskusteluista suomalaisessa varhaiskasvatuksessa ja laajemminkin yhteiskunnassa. Tässä artikkelissa tarkastelemme lasten oikeuksiin ja osallisuuteen keskittyneeseen koulutuskokonaisuuteen osallistuneiden opiskelijoiden puhetapoja lasten osallisuudesta ja yhdenvertaisuudesta. It has been argued that non-work-related computing (NWRC) takes time away from work and, hence, decreases work productivity. On the other hand, it has also been claimed that short-time non-work-related computing (STNWRC) (a maximum of 15 minutes), has a positive impact on work productivity, including relief from boredom, higher creativity, and the underlying recovery mechanisms. Despite the high number of recognised Indigenous groups who are struggling to maintain their languages, cultures, and identities in Russia, there is little research done on the matters of cultural and linguistic revitalisation. This study sought to address this gap by exploring the views of two Indigenous groups, Karelian and Mari, on the development of their Indigenous languages and educational strategies to protect and revive their languages.
