One of the most outstanding figures of music criticism in the Spanish Restoration was José María Esperanza y Sola (1834-1905), active for thirty years, from the late 1860s until the end of the century. During this period, Esperanza collaborated in different periodical publications and, particularly, “La Ilustración Española y Americana”, from whose pages he informed about the most important musical events celebrated in Madrid, judged according to a conservative aesthetic criterion, opposed to any novelty that infringe the traditional music system. [EN]: This article originated in a lecture given in the Department of Art History, University of Valencia. An attempt was made to offer an overview of Spanish silverwork. For this reason the focus was placed on the state of the question in order to determine the situation of research in Spain. Special focus was given to the new lines of study being opened, which place silverwork studies at the forefront of Spanish art historical studies.

Abstract An appropriate management of reproduction allows ewes to breed at a more intensive rhythm, more compatible with economic efficiency of farms. Hence, the objectives of the present work were to evaluate a traditional estrus synchronization protocol (based on medroxyprogesterone acetate-impregnated intravaginal sponges combined or not with equine chorionic gonadotropin) on a Merino sheep herd during the breeding season, in order to determine the best working protocol for this breed. Before World War II Latvia had several strong traditional religious communities: Lutheran, Roman Catholic, Baptist, Russian Old Believers and Orthodox. After the war, the Soviet regime extended the persecution of these communities eliminating the most disobedient clergymen and church members. The property of religious groups was nationalized, and many parishes were abolished. Even after the repressions, religious communities continued to be active. The author argues here the importance of avoiding the paradigm of backwardness in analyzing the evolution and vicissitudes of Spanish fascism. Like in other European countries, the fin-de-siècle cultural crisis saw the emergence of a new nationalist political culture, which would deeply influence Spanish fascism in the future.
