Search for pair production of first or second generation leptoquarks in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s)=7 TeV using the ATLAS detector at the LHC

This paper describes searches for the pair production of first or second generation scalar leptoquarks using 35 pb−1 of proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at √s=7 TeV. Leptoquarks are searched in events with two oppositely-charged muons or electrons and at least two jets, and in events with one muon or electron, missing transverse momentum and at least two jets. After event selection, the observed yields are consistent with the predicted backgrounds. Leptoquark production is excluded at the 95% CL for masses MLQ<376 (319) GeV and MLQ<422 (362) GeV for first and second generation scalar leptoquarks, respectively, when assuming the branching fraction of a leptoquark…

Il contributo presenta un progetto di media education, incentrato sul genere cartone animato. L'intervento è stato rivolto agli alunni di 6 classi quarte primarie della Direzione Didattica “Giovanni Falcone” di Carini nell’a.s. 2006/2007, ha previsto la formazione di 8 docenti alla media education e ha verificato se, in un contesto educativo strutturato, si potesse far aumentare la consapevolezza nelle scelte dei cartoni animati da parte degli alunni e incrementare le conoscenze e la comprensione del linguaggio dei cartoni al punto da permettere la rielaborazione personale e creativa del messaggio stesso.

Il lavoro dopo aver individuato i costrutti teorici relativi alla media literacy rileva la necessità di promuovere competenze mediali negli insegnanti perche possano adeguatamente valutare i programmi televisivi in modo da scegliere ciò che per i bambini è più idoneo e vantaggioso.
Long-term monitoring of the TeV emission from Mrk 421 with the ARGO-YBJ experiment

ARGO-YBJ is an air shower detector array with a fully covered layer of resistive plate chambers. It is operated with a high duty cycle and a large field of view. It continuously monitors the northern sky at energies above 0.3 TeV. In this paper, we report a long-term monitoring of Mrk 421 over the period from 2007 November to 2010 February. This source was observed by the satellite-borne experiments Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer and Swift in the X-ray band. Mrk 421 was especially active in the first half of 2008. Many flares are observed in both X-ray and gamma-ray bands simultaneously. The gamma-ray flux observed by ARGO-YBJ has a clear correlation with the X-ray flux. No lag between the X-r…

The present work focuses on the construct of digital citizenship from an educational and inclusive point of view. Considering the general European interest in implementing citizens’ digital skills and with particular care for the contemporary situ-ation of overall emergency, due to the Covid 19 pandemic case, the idea is that of con-sidering a possible conceptual link between digital skills and the Capability Approach.
