È possibile tracciare un bilancio sull’eucalitticoltura in Sicilia e sulle sue prospettive?

2017

Micropropagation of Citrus spp. by Organogenesis and Somatic Embryogenesis.

2013

Citrus spp., the largest fruit crops produced worldwide, are usually asexually propagated by cuttings or grafting onto seedling rootstocks. Most of Citrus genotypes are characterized by polyembryony due to the occurrence of adventive nucellar embryos, which lead to the production of true-to-type plants by seed germination. Tissue culture and micropropagation, in particular, are valuable alternatives to traditional propagation to obtain a high number of uniform and healthy plants in a short time and in a small space. Moreover, in vitro propagation provides a rapid system to multiply the progeny obtained by breeding programs, allows the use of monoembryonic and seedless genotypes as rootstock…

Production of the Sicilian distillate “ Spiritu re fascitrari ” from honey by-products: An interesting source of yeast diversity

2017

The “Spiritu re fascitrari” (SRF) is a typical Sicilian distillate obtained from the by-products of traditional process of honey production. Although some alcoholic fermentation of honey based products have been described, the present research represents the first investigation on the yeast ecology and the physico-chemical characteristics of honey by-products subjected to an alcoholic fermentation followed by distillation. All samples collected during manufacturing process were analysed for the count of total, osmophilic and osmotolerant yeasts. The honeycombs and equipment surfaces showed the presence of yeasts that was 1.7 and 1.1 Log (CFU/mL), respectively. After enrichment, yeast popula…

Could halophilic archaea improve the traditional salted anchovies (Engraulis encrasicholus L) manufacture?

2008

Although initial interest on extremely halophilic archaea turned to their involvement in the spoilage of salted meat and fish products, studies on the occurrence of such microorganisms in food ecosystems have rarely been performed. During salted anchovies production, a traditional process used by Mediterranean fishermen to obtain a tender product with a specific pleasant aroma and taste, extremely halophilic archaea belonging to the Halobacteriaceae family are often isolated. In order to elucidate the influence of halobacteria in salting and curing of this product, an experimental manufacturing was performed according to a traditional procedure. Salt to be employed was artificially inoculat…

Phlebiopsis gigantea attīstība un antagonisms pret Heterobasidion spp. parastās egles un priedes koksnē

2018
