Urban organic aerosol composition in Eastern China differs from North to South: Molecular insight from a liquid chromatography-Orbitrap mass spectrom…

2019

Particulate air pollution in China is influencing human health, ecosystem and climate. However, the chemical composition of particulate aerosol, especially of the organic fraction, is still not well understood. In this study, particulate aerosol samples with a diameter ≤ 2.5 μm (PM2.5) were collected in January 2014 in three cities located in Northeast, East and Southeast China, i.e., Changchun, Shanghai and Guangzhou, respectively. Organic aerosol (OA) in the PM2.5 samples was analyzed by ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) coupled to high-resolution Orbitrap mass spectrometry in both negative mode (ESI−) and positive mode electrospray ioni…

Application of Dopant-Assisted Atmospheric Pressure Photoionisation HPLC–MS Method for the Sensitive Determination of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon…

2017

Multiple food research studies have shown that the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAHs) are frequently found in processed cocoa products and chocolate. In a present study a method based on dopant-assisted atmospheric pressure photoionisation (DA-APPI) combined with a liquid chromatography/high-resolution mass spectrometer (HPLC-HRMS) for high-sensitivity analysis of four EU marker PAHs in dark chocolate samples was developed and fully validated according to the performance criteria set in EU guidelines. PAHs detection was achieved by HRMS in positive electrospray ionization mode with toluene used as a dopant to enhance the ionization efficiency of non-polar PAHs. The on-column instrument …

Lactones from the Sponge-Derived Fungus Talaromyces rugulosus.

2017

The marine-derived fungus Talaromyces rugulosus isolated from the Mediterranean sponge Axinella cannabina and cultured on solid rice medium yielded seventeen lactone derivatives including five butenolides (1–5), seven (3S)-resorcylide derivatives (6–12), two butenolide-resorcylide dimers (13 and 14), and three dihydroisocoumarins (15–17). Among them, fourteen compounds (1–3, 6–16) are new natural products. The structures of the isolated compounds were elucidated by 1D and 2D NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) spectroscopy as well as by ESI-HRMS (ElectroSpray Ionization-High Resolution Mass Spectrometry). TDDFT-ECD (Time-Dependent Density Functional Theory-Electronic Circular Dichroism) calcul…

Aß(25-35) and its C-and/or N-blocked derivatives: copper driven structural features and neurotoxicity

2006

The toxic properties of beta-amyloid protein, Abeta(1-42), the major component of senile plaques in Alzheimer's disease, depend on nucleation-dependent oligomerization and aggregation. In addition, Abeta(1-42) toxicity is favored by the presence of trace metals, which affect the secondary structure of the peptide. A peptide comprising 11 residues within Abeta(1-42) [Abeta(25-35)] aggregates and retains the neurotoxic activity of Abeta(1-42). We have used both Abeta(25-35) and its C-amidated or N-acetylated/C-amidated derivatives to investigate the role of copper(II) in modulating the conformation and aggregation state as well as the neurotoxic properties of amyloid peptides. Electrospray io…

Azacoccones F-H, new flavipin-derived alkaloids from an endophytic fungus Epicoccum nigrum MK214079.

2020

Abstract Three new flavipin-derived alkaloids, azacoccones F-H (1–3), along with six known compounds (4–9) were isolated from the endophytic fungus Epicoccum nigrum MK214079 associated with leaves of Salix sp. The structures of the new compounds were established by analysis of their 1D/2D nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectroscopy (HRESIMS) data. The absolute configuration of azacoccones F-H (1–3) was determined by comparison of experimental electronic circular dichroism (ECD) data with reported ones and biogenetic considerations. Epicocconigrone A (4), epipyrone A (5), and epicoccolide B (6) exhibited moderate antibacterial activity again…

Liquid chromatographic–mass spectrometric determination of post-harvest fungicides in citrus fruits

2001

Liquid chromatography (LC)-atmospheric pressure ionisation (API)-mass spectrometry (MS) has been used to determine residues of five fungicides in oranges with a minimum sample cleanup. Atmospheric pressure chemical ionisation (APCI) and electrospray (ES) were compared and both gave similar results in terms of sensitivity and structural information. The main ions were [M+H]+ for carbendazim, imazalil, thiophanate methyl and thiabendazole, and [M+H-C4H9NHCO]+ for benomyl. Samples were extracted with sodium sulphate and ethyl acetate. Although benomyl and thiophanate methyl were transformed through the extraction procedure to carbendazim, the method showed good precision (13%) and recovery (70…

In-flight temperature of solid micrometric powders during cold spray additive manufacturing

2020

Abstract During cold dynamic gas spray additive manufacturing, the thermal field within particles is generally simplified by a state of an instantaneous uniform distribution over the particle's media at any position inside and outside the De-Laval nozzle. This paper addresses critical discussions using analytical and computational analysis of the transient heat transfer within the solid particles due to the convective exchange with the flowing gas. An analytical criterion depicts conditions of instantaneous uniform temperature over the range of typical cold spray data including various particle thermal conductivity, particle size range, dragging velocities, gas nature and gas setting condit…

Preparation and characterization of brass-based coatings

2018

Cold Spray (CS) has been widely investigated owing to its high deposition efficiency and retention of the properties of starting materials. Thus, this process has shown obvious advantages over the fabrication of different copper-based deposits and its alloys over other techniques, such as electroplating, Laser Cladding or thermal spraying. As one of the main copper alloys, brass is implanted in the fields of architecture or industry. Nevertheless, nowadays it is clear that there is very little work on brass coatings, and they were mainly made by electroplating and any other deposition methods, which has severely limits their uses in many applications. This study was applied to develop the br…

Tetranitroresorcin[4]arene: synthesis and structure of a new stereoisomer

2009

The direct reaction between 2-nitroresorcinol and acetaldehyde in alkaline medium yields tetranitro-C1-resorcin[4]arene in a moderate 8.2% overall yield which was characterized by single crystal X-ray crystallography, 1H NMR spectroscopy and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS). In solution and in the solid state, the product adopts a unique, thermally stable and unprecedented rcct-boat conformation.
