Stabilities and coordination modes of histidine in copper(II) mixed-ligand complexes with ethylenediamine, diethylenetriamine or N,N,N′,N″,N″-pentame…

2008

Abstract Solution equilibrium studies on the Cu(II)–polyamine–methionine ternary systems (polyamine: ethylenediamine (en), diethylenetriamine (dien), N,N,N′,N′′,N′′-pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (Me5dien)) have been performed by pH-potentiometry, UV–Vis spectrophotometry and EPR methods. The obtained results suggest the formation of the mixed-ligand complexes with [Cu(A)(Met)]+ stoichiometry in all studied systems. Our spectroscopic results indicate the tetragonal geometry for [Cu(en)(Met)]+, the geometry slightly deviated from square pyramidal for [Cu(dien)(Met)]+ and strongly deviated from square pyramidal towards trigonal bipyramidal for the [Cu(Me5dien)(Met)]+ species. The coordination …

New cyclic tetranuclear copper(II) complexes containing quadrilateral cores: Synthesis, structure, spectroscopy and their interactions with DNA in aq…

2017

Abstract Three new cyclic tetranuclear copper(II) complexes, Tetrakis{3-[(2-pyridylmethyl)-amino]-propionato}(tetrachloro)tetracopper(II)methanolhydrate (1·CH3OH·H2O), Tetrakis{3-[(2-pyridylmethyl)-amino]-propionato}(tetrathiocyanato)tetracopper(II) (2) and Tetrakis{3-[(2-pyridylmethyl)-amino]-propionato}(tetraazido)tetracopper(II) (3) have been synthesized by exploiting the chelating ability and bridging potential of a carboxyamine functionalized tridentate ligand, HL (HL = 3-[(2-Pyridylmethyl)-amino]-propionic acid). Complexes 1, 2 and 3 have been synthesized by carrying out reaction of the ligand HL with stoichiometric amounts of CuCl2·2H2O, CuCl2·2H2O/NH4SCN, and CuCl2·2H2O/NaN3, respec…

Copper(II)-assisted hydrolysis of 2,4,6-tris(2-pyrimidyl)-1,3,5-triazine (tpymt): syntheses, crystal structures and magnetic properties of [Cu(bpcam)…

2005

Abstract The reaction of the 2,4,6-tris(2-pyrimidyl)-1,3,5-triazine (tpymt) ligand with copper(II) perchlorate or sulfate in aqueous solution affords complexes [Cu(bpcam)(H2O)2]ClO4 · 3H2O (1), [Cu(bpcam)(H2O)2][Cu(bpcam)(H2O)(SO4)] · 2H2O (2) and [Cu2(bpcam)2(H2O)2(SO4)] · H2O (3) [bpcam = bis(2-pyrimidylcarbonyl)amidate], whose structures have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies. Copper(II) promotes the hydrolysis of tpymt in mild conditions yielding the bpcam group which is present in the structures of 1–3 as a tridentate ligand. The structure of 1 consists of mononuclear [Cu(bpcam)(H2O)2]+ cations, uncoordinated perchlorate anions and water of crystallization. Th…

Stabilities and Coordination Modes of α-Alaninephosphonic Acid in Copper(II) Heteroligand Complexes with Ethylenediamine, Diethylenetriamine or N,N,N…

2011

Solution equilibrium studies on Cu2+–L1–L2 ternary systems have been performed by pH-potentiometry, UV–Vis spectrophotometry and EPR methods (L1 corresponds to polyamines such as ethylenediamine (en), diethylenetriamine (dien), or N,N,N′,N′,N″-pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (Me5dien) and L2 represents 1-aminoethylphosphonic acid (α-alaninephosphonic acid)). The obtained results suggest the formation of heteroligand complexes with [Cu(L1)(α-Ala(P))] stoichiometry in all studied systems. Additionally, in the system with en the [Cu(en)(α-Ala(P))H−1]− species is formed in basic solution. Our spectroscopic results indicate tetragonal geometry for the [Cu(en)(α-Ala(P))] species, geometry slightly …

Study of Redox Processes in Zeolite Y-Associated 2,4,6-Triphenylthiopyrylium Ion by Square Wave Voltammetry

2003

The electrochemical responses of 2,4,6-triphenylthiopyrylium ion (TTP+) in solution and attached to zeolite Y (TTP@Y) are described using cyclic and square wave voltammetries upon immersion of zeolite-modified polymer film electrodes in MeCN (LiClO4, Et4NClO4, and BuN4PF6 electrolytes) and aqueous (LiNO3, NaNO3, and KNO3 electrolytes) media. The electrochemistry of TTP@Y in contact with Bu4NPF6/MeCN is identical to that of TTP(BF4) in solution, with reduction processes at −0.25, −0.74, and −1.36 V vs SCE, and oxidation steps at +0.85 and +1.11 V. This response differs from those obtained for TTP@Y in Et4NClO4/MeCN and LiClO4/MeCN electrolytes. In contact with aqueous electrolytes, TTP@Y dis…

Electrochemistry of copper complexes with macrocyclic polyamines containing pyrazole units.

2006

The voltammetric behaviour of bi- and mono-nuclear complexes formed in solution by Cu(2+) with three polyazacyclophanes containing pyrazole units in aqueous solution is described. Cyclic and square wave voltammetric responses at glassy carbon electrodes indicate that the reduction of copper-macrocycle complexes in solution takes place in two successive one-electron per Cu transfer processes coupled with preorganization and protonation reactions that mimic the behaviour of superoxide dismutase. The electrochemistry of ternary Cu(2+)-receptor-dopamine complexes exhibits significant differences with respect to the protection of the neurotransmitter from post-electron transfer cyclization react…

A Late Roman industrial complex with glass furnaces in the northern area of Valencia

2008

Abstract Information from excavations in Conde de Trenor street (1997) and Cisneros square (1986 and 1998) has confirmed that this area situated in the north of Valencia was a river port district dedicated to commercial activities and storing goods during the Roman Imperial period and maybe also in the Republican period. At the end of the third century A.D. the function of these port buildings changed and the evidence suggests that they became industrial workshops. The bases of three circular furnaces were found with fragments of glass containers, bottles, glasses, window panes and some slag. The recent excavation which took place in 2004–2006 in the Palau Cervero , 4 Cisneros square also s…

Biological mineral content in Iberian skeletal cremains for control of diagenetic factors employing multivariate statistics

2013

Abstract The aim of this study was to define a strategy for a correct selection of bone samples by employing inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) for reconstructing the biological mineral content in bones through the determination of major elements, trace elements and Rare Earth Elements (REE, lanthanides) in skeletal cremains of ancient Iberians (III–II B.C), discovered in the Necropolis of Corral de Saus (Moixent, Valencia) between 1972 and 1979. The biological mineral content was determined taking into account diagenetic factors. A control method for a better reading of results was applied. To explore large geochemical datasets and to reduce the number of va…

A Fast Imaging Technique Applied to 2D Electrical Resistivity Data

2014

A new technique is proposed to process 2D apparent resistivity datasets, in order to obtain a fast and contrasted resistivity image, useful for a rapid data check in field or as a starting model to constrain the inversion procedure. In the past some modifications to the back-projection algorithm, as well as the use of filtering techniques for the sensitivity matrix were proposed. An implementation of this technique is proposed here, considering a two-step approach. Initially a damped least squares solution is obtained after a full matrix inversion of the linearized geoelectrical problem. Furthermore, on the basis of the results, a subsequent filtering algorithm is applied to the Jacobian ma…

New Objective Refraction Metric Based on Sphere Fitting to the Wavefront

2017

Purpose. To develop an objective refraction formula based on the ocular wavefront error (WFE) expressed in terms of Zernike coefficients and pupil radius, which would be an accurate predictor of subjective spherical equivalent (SE) for different pupil sizes.Methods. A sphere is fitted to the ocular wavefront at the center and at a variable distance,t. The optimal fitting distance, topt, is obtained empirically from a dataset of 308 eyes as a function of objective refraction pupil radius,r0, and used to define the formula of a new wavefront refraction metric (MTR). The metric is tested in another, independent dataset of 200 eyes.Results. For pupil radiir0≤2 mm, the new metric predicts the equ…
