Analyzing the impact of using the SRP (Simplified roughness parameterization) method on soil moisture retrieval over different regions of the globe

2015

International audience; This paper focuses on a new approach to account for soil roughness effects in the retrieval of soil moisture (SM) at L-band in the framework of the SMOS (Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity) mission: the Simplified Roughness Parameterization (SRP). While the classical retrieval approach considers SM and τ nad (vegetation optical depth) as retrieved parameters, this approach is based on the retrieval of SM and the TR parameter combining τ nad and soil roughness (TR τ nad + Hr /2). Different roughness parameterizations were tested to find the best correlation (R), bias and unbiased RMSE (ubRMSE) when comparing homogeneous retrievals of SM and in situ SM measurements carri…

Prussian Blue Analogues of Reduced Dimensionality

2012

Abstract: Mixed-valence polycyanides (Prussian Blue analogues) possess a rich palette of properties spanning from room-temperature ferromagnetism to zero thermal expansion, which can be tuned by chemical modifications or the application of external stimuli (temperature, pressure, light irradiation). While molecule-based materials can combine physical and chemical properties associated with molecular-scale building blocks, their successful integration into real devices depends primarily on higher-order properties such as crystal size, shape, morphology, and organization. Herein a study of a new reduced-dimensionality system based on Prussian Blue analogues (PBAs) is presented. The system is …

Genome-Wide Association Analysis in Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis

2010

Background & Aims We aimed to characterize the genetic susceptibility to primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) by means of a genome-wide association analysis of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers. Methods A total of 443,816 SNPs on the Affymetrix SNP Array 5.0 (Affymetrix, Santa Clara, CA) were genotyped in 285 Norwegian PSC patients and 298 healthy controls. Associations detected in this discovery panel were re-examined in independent case-control panels from Scandinavia (137 PSC cases and 368 controls), Belgium/The Netherlands (229 PSC cases and 735 controls), and Germany (400 cases and 1832 controls). Results The strongest associations were detected near HLA-B at chromosome 6p21…

Cyanido-Bridged {LnIIIWV} Heterobinuclear Complexes: Synthesis and Magneto-Structural Study

2017

A new series of cyanido-bridged {LnIIIWV} heterobinuclear complexes of formula [LnIII(pyim)2(i-PrOH)(H2O)2(μ-CN)WV(CN)7]·2H2O [Ln = Gd (1), Tb (2), Dy (3), Ho (4), and Er (5); pyim = 2-(1H-imidazol-2-yl)-pyridine) and i-PrOH = isopropyl alcohol] were synthesized by one-pot reaction between (NH3Bu)3[W(CN)8] and [Ln(pyim)2]2+ complexes (generated in situ by mixing the corresponding LnIII ions and the pyim ligand). Compounds 1–5 are isomorphous and crystallize in the monoclinic system P21/n space group. Their crystal structure consists of binuclear units in which the octacyanotungstate(V) anion coordinates to the corresponding LnIII ion through a single cyanide ligand. The tungsten(V) and lant…

The crystal structure of neodymium and europium chromate heptahydrate: Synthesis, infrared spectra, and thermal behavior of lanthanoid chromate hepta…

1991

Abstract The crystal structures of Nd2(CrO4)3 · 7H2O and Eu2(CrO4)3 · 7H2O were determined by the conventional single-crystal X-ray diffraction technique. In addition, unit cell dimensions were measured for La2 (CrO4)3 · 7H2O and Sm2(CrO4)3 · 7H2O. All these compounds are isostructural. Crystals are monoclinic, space group P2 1 c . For Nd2(CrO4)3 · 7H2O, a = 8.052(4) A, b = 19.143(4) A, c = 13.326(6) A, β = 128.15(4)°, Z = 4, Dx = 3.14 Mg · m−3, T = 296(1); and for Eu2(CrO4)3 · 7H2O, a = 7.965(3) A, b = 18.985(4) A, c = 13.185(4) A, β = 128.00(2)°, Z = 4, Dx = 3.29 Mg · m−3, T = 296(1). Ln atoms are nine-coordinated so that the coordination polyhedron is a tricapped trigonal prism for Ln1 a…

2010

The synthesis, crystal structure and magnetic properties of a new series of mixed 3d–4f complexes with the formula [{FeIII(phen)(CN)3(μ-CN)}4Ln2III(NO3)2(H2O)6(μ-bpym)]·nH2O [Ln = Eu (1), Gd (2), Dy (3) and Ho (4); n = 8 (1, 3 and 4) and 11 (2); phen = 1,10-phenantroline; bpym = 2,2′-bipyrimidine] are discussed here. Compounds 1–4 are centrosymmetric hexanuclear species whose structure is made up of two cyano-bridged {Fe2IIILnIII} heterobimetallic moieties which are connected through a bis-bidentate bpym molecule between the two rare-earth centers. The values of the iron–lanthanide distance across the single cyano-bridge are Fe(1)⋯Eu(1) = 5.5587(8) and Fe(2)⋯Eu(1) = 5.4908(8) A (1), Fe(1)⋯G…

Photoluminescence study of terbium-exchanged ultrastable Y zeolites: Number of species, photoluminescence decays and decay-associated spectra

2008

Terbium-exchanged ultrastable Y (USY) zeolites were investigated by using time-resolved photoluminescence spectroscopy techniques and methods. To determine the distribution of terbium species in USY zeolites together with their photoluminescence properties, several analysis methods for the time-resolved luminescence spectra were used such as the area normalization of time-resolved photoluminescence spectra, singular value decomposition, global nonlinear least squares, and the maximum entropy. Except for a questionable long lifetime, small contribution of a terbium species with lifetime of 1.9¿2.1 ms, all the experimental and analysis results converged to a two terbium species distribution w…

Adaptive algorithms robust to impulsive noise with low computational cost using order statistic

2009

Abstract In this paper a family of adaptive algorithms robust to impulsive noise and with low computational cost are presented. Unlike other approaches, no cost functions or filtering of the gradient are considered in order to update the filter coefficients. Its initial basis is the basic LMS algorithm and its sign-error variant. The proposed algorithms can be considered as some sign-error variants of the LMS algorithm. The algorithms are successfully tested in terms of accuracy and convergence in a standard system identification simulation in which an impulsive noise is present. Simulations show that they improve the performance of LMS variants that are robust to impulsive noise.
