Effects of Tolazoline and Prostacyclin on Pulmonary Hypertension in Infants After Cardiac Surgery

Objective To evaluate the hemodynamic effects of tolazoline and prostacyclin in infants with pulmonary vasospasm after cardiac surgery. Design Prospective cohort study. Setting Pediatric ICU. Patients The cohort consisted of 42 infants and children with congenital heart disease and pulmonary hypertension who underwent corrective surgery and were monitored postoperatively using pulmonary artery catheters. Fourteen infants (2 to 12 months old) in this group required postoperative treatment with tolazoline or prostacyclin. ABSTRACT Background Temsirolimus (TEMS), an mTOR-inhibitor, is approved the EU for the treatment of patients (pts) with relapsed or refractory MCL (rel/refr). A pivotal study demonstrated significantly longer progression free survival with TEMS (175mg weekly for 3 weeks followed by 75mg weekly) in rel/refr MCL pts compared to investigatoŕs choice therapy (4.8 mo vs 1.9 mo; P = .0009). Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is characterized by upper airway collapse during sleep. Chronic intermittent hypoxia, sleep fragmentation, and inflammatory activation are the main pathophysiological mechanisms of OSA. OSA is highly prevalent in obese patients and may contribute to cardiometabolic risk by exerting detrimental effects on adipose tissue metabolism and potentiating the adipose tissue dysfunction typically found in obesity. Plantar pressure distribution during running with a self-customized foot orthosis in a home microwave.

The individualization of a custom-made foot orthosis could provide improvements in plantar loading distribution regarding a prefabricated one. However, not all runners can afford it because of its high cost. A new type of low-cost prefabricated foot orthoses with self-customization could be the solution.
