Cannabis use undergoes a dynamic redefinition under selected legal frameworks globally. Many prevention programs face a dilemma between delivering abstinence objectives and pursuing more nuanced, harm reductionist aims. However, drug use in South-East Turkey is strongly stigmatized and is absent from the official life of the community, so neither of these discussions takes place. The stigma of feminism: disclosures and silences regarding female disadvantage in the video game industry in US and Finnish media stories

This article examines how the issue of gender, particularly women’s (under)representation in the video game industry, is framed in US and Finnish media. Building on the notion of stigma surrounding feminism, the article examines discourse practices as acts of managing the image of feminism. The findings illustrate five stigma management strategies that offer the possibility of maintaining socially accepted ways of discussing gender inequality and portraying women in mainstream media. Evaluation of a new nomogram for Ferrara ring segment implantation in keratoconus

AIM: To evaluate the short-term clinical outcomes of Ferrara rings in keratoconus using an optimized nomogram developed after several years of research and retrospective analysis of clinical data. METHODS: This prospective longitudinal non-comparative clinical trial evaluated 88 eyes of 88 patients (age 18-62y) with keratoconus diagnosis from two Spanish centers. Ferrara ring segment (AJL Ophthalmic) implantation was performed in all cases, using the mechanical procedure in 25 eyes (28.4%) and a femtosecond laser-assisted procedure in 63 eyes (71.6%). Typhlodromips jurmoensis ; (Acari: Mesostigmata: Amblyseiinae), a new species from the archipelago of SW Finland

A new species belonging to the genus Typhloromips De Leon, 1965 is described. It was collected from Calluna moorland soil on Jurmo, a remote island in the SW archipelago of Finland. Typhlodromips herbarius (Wainstein, 1960) is considered a senior synonym of T.tenuis (Westerboer, 1963), syn.n. A key is given to related species with a similar spermathecal structure. peerReviewed
Redzes refraktīvo defektu izplatība skolas vecuma bērniem

Darbs ir uzrakstīts latviešu valodā uz 28 lapaspusēm, satur 7 attēlus, 10 tabulas, un 28 atsauces uz literatūras avotiem. Darba mērķis bija novērtēt nekoriģēto redzes refraktīvo defektu izplatību skolas vecuma bērniem dažādās vecuma grupās. Pētījumā tika izmantoti 11033 skolēnu dati no LU skrīninga projekta “Skolas vecuma bērnu redzes un redzes uztveres traucējumu pētīšana un diagnostikas metodiku izstrāde”. Tika analizēta refraktīvo defektu izplatības atkarībā no vecuma un smaguma pakāpes. Nekoriģētie redzes refraktīvie defekti tika konstatēti 8,5 % skolēniem, no tiem 25,8 % skolēniem novēroja miopiju, 11,1 % – hipermetropju, un 22,4 % vienkāršo vai saliktu astigmatismu. Femtosecond‑LASIK outcomes using the VisuMax®‑MEL® 80 platform for hyperopia and hyperopic astigmatism refractive surgery

The present study evaluated the efficacy, the safety and the predictability of the Femtosecond laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (Femto-LASIK) procedure for hyperopia and hyperopic astigmatism. We retrospectively analyzed the postoperative 12-month evolution of 593 eyes with hyperopia and hyperopic astigmatism that underwent Femto-LASIK treatment. The procedure was predictable and effective. No eye lost 2 lines of corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), demonstrating a safety profile of the procedure. Tutkimus tuottaa tietoa marginaalisuudesta ja köyhyydestä tehostetussa palveluasumisessa nuorten mielenterveyskuntoutujien kokemana. Tutkimuksen teoreettinen viitekehys käsittelee asumispalveluja, marginaalisuutta, köyhyyttä ja stigmaa. Tutkimuksen aineisto koos- tuu kymmenen, iältään 19–32-vuotiaan, nuoren haastatteluista. In this article, we examine the discursive practices of (de)stigmatizing right-wing populist party leaders. We draw on a recent example from Finland by examining how the female presidential candidate of a right-wing populist party was portrayed in the Finnish media during the 2018 presidential campaign season. We examine the stigmatization by the press media and the stigma-management tactics used by the presidential candidate to resist stigmatization. The media representation of the right-wing party leader is highly tensioned, and the media positions her political leadership within the duality of charisma and stigma.
