Corrected whole blood biomarkers : the equation of Dill and Costill revisited

An exercise bout or a dehydration often causes a reduction in plasma volume, which should be acknowledged when considering the change in biomarkers before and after the plasma changing event. The classic equation from Dill and Costill (1974, J. Appl. Physiol., 37, 247–248) for plasma volume shift is usually utilized in such a case. Although this works well with plasma and serum biomarkers, we argue in this note that this traditional approach gives misleading results in the context of whole blood biomarkers, such as lactate, white cells, and thrombocytes. Diplomdarba tēma ir “Kokteiļu grāmatu dizaina stilistika”. Balstoties uz teorētisku un empīrisku pētījumu, darba mērķis ir izveidot dizainu kokteiļu grāmatai, izmantojot kokteiļu grāmatu vizuālas stilistikas iezīmes. Teorētiskajā daļā aprakstīta kokteiļu un kokteiļu grāmatu vēsture, dzērienu un ēdienu fotogrāfija un grāmatas uzbūve. Lai veiksmīgi realizētu darba mērķi, darba empīriskajā daļā tika veikta kokteiļu grāmatu dizaina analīze. Rezultātā tika noskaidrotas kokteiļu grāmatu dizaina vizuāli stilistikās iezīmes. Este estudio analiza la vulnerabilidad de los adolescentes a par- tir de la autoestima y el consumo de sustancias, y la protección o riesgo del estilo de socialización. La muestra fue de 1445 adolescentes españoles (59.4% mujeres), 600 tempranos de 12 a 15 años (41.5%) y 845 tardíos de 16 a 17 años (58.5%). Las familias se clasificaron en una de las cuatro tipo- logías: indulgente, autorizativa, autoritaria y negligente. El ajuste de los hijos se midió con autoestima (emocional, familiar y física) y consumo de sustan- cias (alcohol, tabaco, cannabis y drogas de síntesis). Resveratrol is a poly-phenol with many beneficial effects: not only as an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiatherogenic agent, as well as a platelet aggregation inhibitor, but also as an antiproliferative and proapoptotic factor in various types of cancers. There are reviews about the mechanisms responsible for its effects in leukemia and lymphomas, emphasizing the chemosensitizing role of resveratrol, which allows overcoming the multidrug resistance of cancers. The action of resveratrol occurs preferentially on leukemic cells, and not on the normal ones. In addition, it is one of the few drugs that act on leukemic stem cells. Adriamycin and Daunomycin in the Treatment of Vesical and Prostatic Neoplasias. Preliminary Results

Our preHrninary experience with adriamycin in tumors of the bladder and prostate is of 25 treatments performed in 21 patients. The discrepancy between the numbers of patients and treatments is due to the fact that some patients were again submitted to various therapeutic cycles upon subsequent admissions. The treatments administered to the same patient at different times are considered individually, with regard either to a different schedule and way of administration of the drug, or to the interposition of other therapeutic means in the intervals between treatments. In addition, 13 patients were treated with daunomycin, as shown in Table 1.
In vitro study of the apical microleakage with resilon root canal filling using different final endodontic irrigants

Background: Endodontic microleakage or microfiltration refers to the percolation of fluids and micro-organisms at the interface of the obturation material and the walls of the root canal system. The aim of this in vitro study was to compare apical microfiltration of Resilon root canal filling by employing three dif ferent final irrigant solutions. Material and Methods: 128 single-rooted teeth were employed. The crowns were sectioned horizontally at the cemento-enamel junction and instrumented with 5.25% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) and 17% EDTA gel to obtain an instrumented 040 apical caliber.
