Understanding the price drivers of successful apps in the mobile app market

In this paper, we take the perspective of app developers. Specifically, based on a sample of top paid apps from three major app stores, i.e., App Store, Google Play, and Blackberry World, we construct a hedonic price model to examine the role of relevant factors in price formation in the app market. Our results suggest a strong evidence of two-sided market effects. In fact, the lower price charged for apps operating as two-sided markets reflect the strategy of subsidising users, due to the positive cross-side externalities they exert on valuable third parties. The paper addresses the problem of using social media to promote innovative products available in online stores. Motivated by the fast development of the audiobook market, on the one hand, and the efficiency of social media marketing, on the other hand, we conducted an experiment with a marketing campaign of books and audiobooks on the most popular social networking site, Facebook, and discussed it in the paper. Le secteur du commerce de détail connaît une remise en cause d'un certain nombre de modèles stratégiques dominants qui ont accompagné les transformations de ce secteur depuis une cinquantaine d'années. Les professionnels du secteur sont ainsi confrontés à la recherche de nouveaux cadres normatifs susceptibles d'orienter leur prise de décision. Cet article analyse les contributions possibles des recherches académiques à trois champs stratégiques majeurs du distributeur : le cadre stratégique du détaillant, l'optimisation du canal de distribution et le positionnement de l'offre du point de vente.

A recent and new Republican denarius restored by Trajan is studied and discussed. The issue is extremely rare as no image of it is known so far. It was found in Carcaboso, Cáceres (Conventus Emeritensis, Lusitania), very near of the road known as Vía de la Plata, very surely in a Roman mansio.
