HybridS: A Scheme for Secure Distributed Data Storage in WSNs
2008
In unattended wireless sensor networks (WSNs), data is stored locally or at designated nodes upon sensing, and users can access it on demand. This paradigm can improve energy efficiency by making use of the upcoming cheap and large flash memory, as well as system robustness. Nevertheless, the security and dependability of distributed storage are critical for the applicability of such WSNs. In this paper, we propose a secure and dependable data storage scheme by taking advantages of secret sharing and Reed-Solomon code, which has computational security and yet maintains optimal data size. The extensive analysis verifies our scheme can provide secure and dependable data storage in WSNs in the…
Electrophysiological and behavioral studies in the evaluation of semiochemical attractants for Stegobium paniceum L. (Coleoptera: Anobiidae)
2017
Stegobium paniceum (L.) (Coleoptera: Anobiidae), also named drugstore beetle, is one of the major pests for a wide variety of dry and durable stored products. Females of this species produce a sex pheromone, (2S,3R,1’R)-Stegobinone that attracts males and elicit precopulatory searching behaviour. However, (2S,3R,1’R)-Stegobinone has eight possible isomers which are produced during its chemical synthesis and one of them inhibiting the pheromone activity, the (2S,3R,1'S)-Stegobinone form. In addition, the high costs of synthesis of (2S,3R,1’R)-Stegobinone suggest that alternative volatile compounds (e.g. those from food or oviposition sources) might be considered as attractant for traps. In t…

Technical-economical evaluation for distributed storage applications. An Italian case study for a medium-scale public facility
2014
Time-of-use energy cost management involves the use of storage by customers to reduce their electricity bills. This can be accomplished by charging the storage during off-peak time periods, when electricity energy prices are low, and discharging it during times when on-peak energy prices are applied. This article addresses the question whether it is economically viable to install medium-scale distributed storage devices in the power system designed to lower the electricity cost for a customer-side application, assuming flexible electricity tariffs. The technical/economical evaluation is carried out referring to Lithium ion (Li-ion), Sodium Sulphur (NaS) and Vanadium Redox Battery (VRB) tech…
A Testing Facility for Refrigerating Plants Equipment Working with New Fluids
2013
A test rig was built in the department of energy, in laboratory of refrigerating engineering for test runs with a lot of fluid and equipment of various kind for commercial refrigeration. The facility has been continuously improved during the past years and allows to perform experiments aiming to assess the performance characteristics both of conventional and new equipment for commercial refrigeration. In the test rig can be tested a lot of cooling loop filled with a secondary fluid for simulation of their behavior in industrial and commercial plants (e.g.: during exploitation in supermarket and hypermarket for refrigeration of foodstuffs in cold store, display cases and cabinets, etc.). The…
This article examines the political and court activity of Ferdinand of Antequera and Alfonso the Magnanimous through the job of “cobijera”. This was a Castilian charge of the utmost confidence because of the proximity to the king. Thi…
When the arts inspire businesses: Museums as a heritage redefinition tool of brands
2018
International audience; While the literature has mainly considered brand museums as communication tools or complex retail environments, this article analyses them through a heritage framework and suggests that brands can use heritage technologies of the arts for their own purposes. The case study of the brand museum of the Laughing Cow highlights the heritage technologies the brand uses to endorse two heritage roles: an inter-generational memory role based on the transmission of the brand's history and a community representation role through spaces and objects. As a consequence, this research sheds light on how brands can come to be accepted as heritage objects. By using heritage technologi…
Lambda Architecture pour une analyse à haute performance des données des réseaux sociaux
2019
In this article, we show how a Lambda Architecture can contribute to the development of a platform for collecting and analyzing, in real-time, data from Twitter. After having presented the context, detailed the needs and identified the expected specificities, we compare the Lambda and Kappa architectures and we describe the state of the art on Lambda Architecture use in different domains. We propose an adaptation of the Lambda architecture to allow the storage of data in a polystore and to take into account different types of analysis to be carried out to answer researches in social sciences and communication sciences. In these projects the objectives are to study the structure of communica…
Stability analysis of Beck's column over a fractional-order hereditary foundation
2018
This paper considers the case of Beck's column resting on a hereditary bed of independent springpots. The springpot possesses an intermediate rheological behaviour among linear spring and linear dashpot. It is defined by means of couple ( C β , β ) that characterize the material of the element and is ruled by a Caputo's fractional derivative. In this paper, we investigate the critical load of the column under the action of a follower load by means of a novel complex transform that allows to use the Routh–Hurwitz theorem in the complex half-plane for the stability analysis.
Sustainability, Store Equity, and Satisfaction: The Moderating Effect of Gender in Retailing
2021
Currently, sustainability emerges as a key element on which the development of competitive advantages for businesses is based. In the dynamic and turbulent environment in which retail companies operate, sustainable practices are posited as an opportunity for their progress and survival. Through this article, it is intended to advance the nature and dimensions of this construct and examine its influence on store equity and consumer satisfaction. Furthermore, this work analyses the moderating effect of gender on these variables and the mediating nature of brand equity in the development of consumer satisfaction. All this is developed through a quantitative study carried out on a sample of 510…
