Legislative provisions in context: a linguistic approach

The paper takes into consideration legislative provisions from a linguistic point of view. It applies tests of language in a number of texts belonging to the common law drafting practice to ascertain a loss of conceptual focus by legislative drafters and concludes that linguistics can provide a method by which drafters can assess the effectiveness of their draft.

Presentamos resultados de una investigación que analiza las estrategias de estudiantes considerados expertos resolutores de problemas en el contexto del concurso Proves Cangur, con problemas de elección múltiple y tiempo limitado para resolverlos. Nuestro objetivo es entender mejor las estrategias de resolución utilizadas, el uso de las opciones de respuesta y cómo afecta el límite de tiempo a sus estrategias de resolución y a su confianza en las respuestas. In Europe, doctoral education systems have been systematically reformed. These reforms are aimed at improving the quality of research and the competitiveness of European countries. In Finland, the reform project of doctoral education started vigorously in the mid-1990s which has contributed significantly to the emergence of more structured doctoral training. The starting point for this article was a recent national follow-up evaluation of doctoral education in Finland.
