ω-hypoelliptic differential operators of constant strength

Abstract We study ω-hypoelliptic differential operators of constant strength. We show that any operator with constant strength and coefficients in E ω (Ω) which is homogeneous ω-hypoelliptic is also σ-hypoelliptic for any weight function σ=O(ω). We also present a sufficient condition in order to ensure that a differential operator admits a parametrix and, as a consequence, we obtain some conditions on the weights (ω,σ) to conclude that, for any operator P(x,D) with constant strength, the σ-hypoellipticity of the frozen operator P(x0,D) implies the ω-hypoellipticity of P(x,D). This requires the use of pseudodifferential operators.

Frailty Tools for Assessment of Long-term Prognosis After Acute Coronary Syndrome

Objective: To evaluate the 5 components of the Fried frailty phenotype (self-reported unintentional weight loss, physical activity questionnaire, gait speed, grip strength, and self-reported exhaustion) for long-term outcomes in elderly survivors of acute coronary syndrome. Methods: A total of 342 consecutive patients (from October 1, 2010, to February 1, 2012) were included. The 5 components of the Fried score and albumin concentration, as malnutrition index, were assessed before hospital discharge. In this paper, the influence and improvement of the localization accuracy achieved using a fingerprint database with information coming from different channels and radio signal strength levels is evaluated. This study uses IEEE 802.15.4 networks with different power levels and carrier frequency channels in the 2.4 GHz band. Experimental results show that selecting part of this information with a cleverer data processing can provide similar or better localization accuracy than using the whole database.

Oscillator strength reduction induced by external electric fields in self-assembled quantum dots and rings

We have carried out continuous wave and time resolved photoluminescence experiments in self-assembled In(Ga)As quantum dots and quantum rings embedded in field effect structure devices. In both kinds of nanostructures, we find a noticeable increase of the exciton radiative lifetime with the external voltage bias that must be attributed to the field-induced polarizability of the confined electron hole pair. The interplay between the exciton radiative recombination and the electronic carrier tunneling in the presence of a stationary electric field is therefore investigated and compared with a numerical calculation based on the effective mass approximation.

Background Implantoplasty (IP) involves polishing of the exposed surface of implants affected by peri-implantitis (PI). A study was made to determine whether the degree of bone loss influences the fracture resistance of implants with or without IP. Hydrolysis and chemical speciation of (C2H5)2Sn2+, (C2H5)3Sn+ and (C3H7)3Sn+ in aqueous media simulating the major composition of natural waters

The hydrolysis of (C 2 H 5 ) 2 Sn 2+ , (C 2 H 5 ) 3 Sn + and (n-C 3 H 7 ) 3 Sn + has been studied, by potentiometric measurements ([H + ]-glass electrode), in NaNO 3 , NaCl, NaCl/Na 2 SO 4 mixtures and in a synthetic seawater (SSWE), as an ionic medium simulating the major composition of natural seawater, at different ionic strengths (0 ≤ I ≤ 5 mol dm -3 ) and salinities (15 ≤ S ≤ 45), and at t = 25 °C.
