Cognitive style and teaching style influences on the motor skill performance of 11 and 12 year old physical education students
2015
The current study examined the influence of cognitive style and teaching style on the motor skill performance of children. A sample of 163 students aged 11 to 12 years old (M = 11.31, SD = 0.46) were categorized as either field dependent or field independent on the basis of their scores on the Group Embedded Figures Test. Children completed a ball handling skills task that assessed throwing and catching abilities at the commencement and completion of the treatment. Sessions were delivered for 15 minutes at the commencement of their standard lessons that were undertaken over a period of one academic year. Analysis of variance was used to contrast pre and post test throwing and catching skill…
Uztura izvēles veidošanās pirmsskolas vecuma bērniem kā veselīga dzīvesveida elementi
2019
Bakalaura darbs izstrādāts par tēmu “Uztura izvēles veidošanās pirmsskolas vecuma bērniem kā veselīga dzīvesveida elements”. Ielikt pamatus bērnu veselīgam dzīvesveidam- svarīgs pedagogu uzdevums. Tomēr šī uzdevuma izpildi kavē pedagoģiskās sistēmas attīstības nepietiekamība, vides un resursu nepietiekamība, ar kuriem nodrošināt veselīga dzīves veida pamatus. Nepietiekama uzmanība veltīta pedagogu darba plānošanai, savstarpējai sadarbībai ar ģimenēm. Lai veidotu veselīga dzīves veida pamatus, pieaugušo lomas realizācija šajā procesā ļoti nepieciešama. Pētījuma mērķis ir pētīt pirmsskolas vidēja vecuma bērnus veselīga dzīvesveida izpratnes veidošanas pirmsskolas pedagoģiskajā procesā. Pētīju…
Eläinten puolustajat : suomalaisen eläinoikeusaktivismin muuttuva poliittinen tyyli ja toiseus
2016
This study examines animal rights activism in Finland. Since 1995, when the first public acts of animal liberation in Finland took place, animal rights activists have made up one of the most debated Finnish social movements. In this research, I study animal rights activism as a phenomenon and as a form of political action. The study approaches the issue by applying the concepts of political style and cultural othering as analytical tools. The study is empirical and bases its analysis on qualitative methodology, especially content analysis. I interviewed activists in 2000-2002 and again in 2015. I have also done observation at demonstrations as well as some campaign analysis. In the five art…
“Čut’ živye, v noč’ osennjuju / My s ochoty vozvraščaemsja…” Secondary predicate in Nekrasov’s poetic texts
2021
The main aim of the article is to examine the grammatical and stylistic functions of the predicative attribute in the poetic work of Nekrasov. The study contributes to the general ‘grammar of poetry’, which has been proposed and developed by Roman Jakobson. The study shows that Nekrasov often used the predicative attribute and it constitutes one of the specific features of his style. Grammatically extended adjectival, participial and adverbial phrases, frequent in Nekrasov’s poetry, cause additional predication, which makes it possible to expand the narrative. The predicative attribute often combines the functions of an attribute with those of the adverbial modifiers of cause and consequenc…
Lifestyle and Empowerment Techniques in Survivorship of Gynaecologic Oncology (LETSGO study): A study protocol for a multicentre longitudinal interve…
2021
IntroductionThe number of gynaecological cancer survivors is increasing and there is a need for a more sustainable model of follow-up care. Today’s follow-up model is time-consuming and patients have reported unmet needs regarding information about their cancer and strategies for managing the consequences of treatment. The main aim of this study is to assess health-related empowerment—in terms of patient education, psychosocial support, and promotion of physical activity—in a new follow-up model by comparing it to standard follow-up in a quasi-randomised study involving intervention hospitals and control hospitals. Methods and analysisAt the intervention hospitals, patients will be stratifie…
Does daily distress make parents prone to using psychologically controlling parenting?
2016
The aim of the present study was to investigate whether parental daily distress in terms of negative emotions is associated with the daily variation in parental use of psychological control with their children. Whether parental positive emotions play a role in the use of psychological control was also investigated. The participants were 149 Finnish families with a child between the ages of 6 and 7 years. Parents’ negative and positive emotions, children’s misconduct, and parental use of psychological control when interacting with their children were measured daily using diary questionnaires filled in by the mothers and fathers over 7 successive days in the fall term of the children’s first…
Physical inactivity increases oxidative stress, endothelial dysfunction, and atherosclerosis.
2005
Objective— Sedentary lifestyle is associated with increased cardiovascular events. The underlying molecular mechanisms are incompletely understood. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) contribute to endothelial dysfunction and atherosclerosis. An important source of vascular ROS is the NADPH oxidase. Methods and Results— C57BL6 mice were subjected to regular housing (physical inactivity) or voluntary training on running wheels (6 weeks). Inactivity increased vascular lipid peroxidation to 148±9% and upregulated superoxide release to 176±17% (L-012 chemiluminescence) and 188±29% (cytochrome C reduction assay), respectively. ROS production was predominantly increased in the endothelium and the medi…
An Automatic Ontology-Based Approach to Support Logical Representation of Observable and Measurable Data for Healthy Lifestyle Management: Proof-of-C…
2020
Background Lifestyle diseases, because of adverse health behavior, are the foremost cause of death worldwide. An eCoach system may encourage individuals to lead a healthy lifestyle with early health risk prediction, personalized recommendation generation, and goal evaluation. Such an eCoach system needs to collect and transform distributed heterogenous health and wellness data into meaningful information to train an artificially intelligent health risk prediction model. However, it may produce a data compatibility dilemma. Our proposed eHealth ontology can increase interoperability between different heterogeneous networks, provide situation awareness, help in data integration, and discover…
O wzniosłości w dyskursie religijnym (z perspektywy słownictwa)
2017
The article is devoted to sublimity as one of the rule shaping religious discourse (especially in Christian religious tradition). In the first part the author presents three ways of understanding of the term sublime/sublimity, which have developed during historical reflection on this category: sublimity as a grand style (one of the three rhetoric styles); as a grand (high) speech (Pseudo-Longinus); as an ambivalent experience of dread and fascination (Rudolf Otto), that arouses in the believer feelings of numinous. The second part examines the lexis (vocabulary) as a mean to achieve sublimity in religious texts. The author points out however, that the effect of sublimity is achieved not onl…
