Redox imbalances in ageing and metabolic alterations: Implications in cancer and cardiac diseases. An overview from the working group of cardiotoxici…
2020
Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a well established risk factor for cardiovascular (CV) diseases. In addition, several studies indicate that MetS correlates with the increased risk of cancer in adults. The mechanisms linking MetS and cancer are not fully understood. Several risk factors involved in MetS are also cancer risk factors, such as the consumption of high calorie-food or high fat intake, low fibre intake, and sedentary lifestyle. Other common aspects of both cancer and MetS are oxidative stress and inflammation. In addition, some anticancer treatments can induce cardiotoxicity, including, for instance, left ventricular (LV) dysfunction and heart failure (HF), endothelial dysfunction an…
Estrategias basadas en análisis de redes sociales para optimizar el clima de aprendizaje en la universidad
2021
The aim of this study was to detect leaders among a group of university students based on their centrality scores and, from these scores, to distribute roles to help enhance learning climate. We understood that learning climate improved when the construction of networked knowledge was stimulated from the perspective of Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning. We conducted the educational experiment in a virtual environment. An online discussion forum was set up in a loo- sely structured format, and the students’ centrality scores were calculated from the social network they generated in the forum. Our findings show that student connectivity increased significantly and that several leaders…

The Italian legal clinics movement: Data and prospects
2015

It is not more than 5 years since legal clinics were founded in Italian Universities: a very recent history indeed and similar to that of other Western European countries. I will try to explain this through some data collected by an inquiry that I ran in order to have a more detailed map of this phenomena and to conjecture its future evolution.

In the following paragraphs I will present the data inquiry and I will try to explain the process of establishing the Italian movement for legal education, its options and challenges.

It is worth pointing out why I use the term “movement”. What is going on in Italy, and I think elsewhere, is not simply the…

2015
Edited By Dejan Verčič, Ana Tkalac Verčič, Krishnamurthy Sriramesh and Jon White; National audience; This study, adopting a qualitative approach to political communication, looks in depth at the way Twitter is used as a PR tool by five French politicians. It suggests that the microblogging service plays a specific role in allowing them to monitor public opinion and current affairs, to interact with voters, journalists, stakeholders and other politicians and to disseminate information. The way politicians use Twitter is influenced by concerns of impression management (content and style of tweets), and also various institutional, political and social/symbolic limits, which contribute to revea…
The influence of leadership styles on the internationalisation of 'born-global' firms and traditionally global-expanding firms
2018
Leadership and internationalisation are both established areas of scientific research, yet their interplay remains insufficiently examined. The present study focuses on the former and aims to shed more light on the intersection of leadership and internationalisation. By utilising fsQCA, a qualitative comparative analysis, to a set of 437 active international firms, results suggest that under distinct conditions transactional as well as transformational leadership can lead to a high level of internationalisation for both traditional internationalising and so-called 'born-global' firms.
