Net satisfaction: a different point of view on the measurement of subjective well-being

Starting from the baffling relationship between satisfaction and importance in the evaluation of subjective well-being, this paper presents a new definition of satisfaction useful to build a composite index of subjective well-being. The index is proven on data from European Quality of Life Survey 2007 and compared with two of the standard literature approaches to measure satisfaction taking into account importance weighting.

Gabriella De Marco propone un saggio sulla centralità dell'istituzione biblioteca nella società contemporanea. Il contributo, che prosegue alcuni precedenti progetti di ricerca avviati dall'autrice sin dai primi anni duemila, è centrato sullo spazio abitabile e sul potenziale identitario di un edificio. Punto di partenza del suo ragionamento è il presupposto che lo spazio misurabile è anche spazio mentale. Ciò attiva una serie di considerazioni legate al rapporto tra il tempo della storia e il tempo del fruitore. Un edificio, pertanto, e nello specifico una biblioteca sia pubblica o privata sia nazionale o di quartiere, si percepisce ed esiste anche nel tempo soggettivo di chi la fruisce.

Article presents the concept of subjective health in the context of the structure of subjective well-being. We emphasize the structural link between satisfaction with health as a life domain and satisfaction with a life as a whole within cognitive part of subjective well-being. Achievement goal orientations and subjective well-being: A person-centred analysis

Abstract This study examined whether students with different achievement goal orientation profiles differ in terms of subjective well-being (i.e., self-esteem, depressive symptoms, school-related burnout, and educational goal appraisals). Six groups of students with unique motivational profiles were identified. Associations between Students’ Perceptions of the Psychosocial School Environment and Indicators of Subjective Health in Finnish Comprehensive Schools

The study examined how far students’ perceptions of the psychosocial school environment are associated with self‐rated health, life satisfaction and subjective health complaints. Students’ perceptions were associated with one or more indicators of subjective health. Perceived health was better in direct proportion to positive perceptions. Student relations and school strain were the factors that stood out in both genders, with regard to all the health indicators.
