‘Because I point to myself as the hog’ : interactional achievement of moral decisions in a classroom

2016

Abstract Drawing on the conversation analytic and sociocultural perspectives, this study investigates children's situated moral negotiations in classroom peer interaction in the absence of a teacher. The conversation analytic methodology is used to operationalise some of the key elements of the sociocultural perspective on moral development. In this way, this study enables readers to observe and study the semiotic, conversational and interactional mediations of moral functioning in real life, with the example of children's moral practices. The empirical analysis is based on video-recorded sequences in which primary school children work with the rules of a counting rhyme which is banned by t…

Neoliberal Governmentality and Knowledge Production in Higher Education: Genealogy of a Subjective Configuration

2015

: Russell Banks, Raymond Carver, David Cronenberg, Bret Easton Ellis, David Lynch

2008

The use of the French adjective “malsain” (usually translated in English as “unhealthy,” “unwholesome” or “sick”) to judge a work of art has led me to question the relevance of this metaphor, the way this value is determined, the reasons which lead the subject to consume shocking material and the possibility to distinguish art from mere symptom. I consider the unhealthy, on the one hand, as a relation of transmission which produces an aesthetic based on metaphor and metonymy, and on the other, as a subjective value delivered by a self or a law, and I argue that, as it is entirely discursive, the unhealthy is in effect an uncanny metonymy. I show that the works under study represent and cond…

Obecność teoretycznych i metateoretycznych założeń współczesnej pedagogiki chrześcijańskiej w De catechizandis rudibus św. Augustyna

2016

Celem artykułu jest zbadanie aktualności postulatów wychowawczych św. Augustyna, przedstawionych w rozprawie De catechizandis rudibus, napisanej około 400 r. W pierwszych dwóch częściach rozważań autor dokonał prezentacji metateoretycznych i teoretycznych założeń współczesnej pedagogiki chrześcijańskiej.

Too much? Excessive sexual experiences in bisexual women’s life stories

2017

This article explores bisexual women’s sexual experiences at the edges of or between relationships. It draws on the follow-up interviews of a longitudinal interview set conducted in 2005 and 2014–2015 with bisexual women and their partners, who do not identify as bisexuals. Bisexual women’s spontaneous, detailed and affective narrations of sexual experiences in the follow-up interviews caught the author’s attention. Although the experiences were often narrated as pleasurable, they could be overwhelming, and women also expressed concern that they were excessive, “too much”. The analysis of the women’s accounts utilizes and develops a psychosocial concept of excess. It reveals that the excess…

Subjectivity in a therapeutic process as a predictor of psychotherapeutic success

2014

Reflections on the uniquely human dimensions of behavior over the last few decades have become a meeting space connecting different sciences. The holistic health model emphasizes the subjectivity of man. Humans are open and active, and remain in relationships with others; they relate to the world they live in and seek meaning. Subjectivity in the psychological perspective can be described in three ways: subjectivity as identity, individuality, specific experience of self; subjectivity as the ability to initiate, regulate, direct, and realize goal-oriented and autonomous activity; subjectivity as the application of one’s own system of values. Subjectivity or causality (core features agency) …
