In last years, heroin-addicted have exponentially increased: this has made it necessary to identify a pharmacological strategy as effective as possible. With this purpose, a statistical investigation was conducted in a sample of individuals, aged between 18 and 50. They were diagnosed and subjected to different treatments at Ser.T of Caltanissetta (Sicily-Italy) during the period 2013-2017. The analyzed patients were treated with three different pharmacological therapy: methadone 0.1%, methadone 0.5%, buprenorphine and suboxone. I SerT sono i servizi pubblici del SSN dedicati alla cura, alla prevenzione e alla riabilitazione dei soggetti con problemi conseguenti all'uso di sostanze stupefacenti che generano dipendenza.Presso il SerT di Marsala dove è stato effettuato lo studio, accertato lo stato di salute psicofisica dei soggetti, è stato attuato un monitoraggio delle patologie collegate agli stati di dipendenza dei pazienti.Successivamente sono stai definiti i programmi terapeutici individuali da realizzare direttamente, o in convenzione con strutture di recupero sociale, valutando periodicamente l'andamento e i risultati del trattamento con Suboxone sui singoli tossicodipendenti.

Drug dependence and abuse is a public health problem as revealed by reports of state police that account overdoserelated deaths for 305 during 2015. Most of the dead were caused by heroin. Despite evidence that methadone maintenance treatment is effective, it remains a controversial therapy because of its indefinite provision of a dependence-producing medication. En los últimos diez años la buprenorfina ha aumentado su disponibilidad en Europa como alternativa a la metadona en el tratamiento de la dependencia a opiáceos.
