Chalcogenide Glasses Based on Germanium Disulfide for Second Harmonic Generation

International audience; High second-order susceptibilities are created by thermal poling in bulk germanium disulfide based chalcogenide glasses. Experimental conditions of the poling treatment (temperature, voltage, time) were optimized for each glass composition. The second-order nonlinear signals were recorded by using the Maker fringes experiment and a second-order coefficient χ(2) up to 8 pm V-1 was measured in the Ge25Sb10S65 glass. This value is obtained using a simulation based on accurate knowledge of the thickness of the nonlinear layer. Influence of Iron Sulfide Nanoparticle Sizes in Solid‐State Batteries**

Abstract Given the inherent performance limitations of intercalation‐based lithium‐ion batteries, solid‐state conversion batteries are promising systems for future energy storage. A high specific capacity and natural abundancy make iron disulfide (FeS2) a promising cathode‐active material. In this work, FeS2 nanoparticles were prepared solvothermally. By adjusting the synthesis conditions, samples with average particle diameters between 10 nm and 35 nm were synthesized. The electrochemical performance was evaluated in solid‐state cells with a Li‐argyrodite solid electrolyte. PbS Nanodots For Ultraviolet Radiation Dosimetry

Lead sulfide (PbS) nanodots in Zirconia (ZrO2) thin film matrix (ZrO2:PbS films) were investigated for UV radiation dosimetry purposes. Samples were fabricated using sol-gel technique. ZrO2:PbS films were irradiated with UV light with wavelengths 250 – 400 nm during 50 minutes. Photoelectron emission spectra of ZrO2:PbS films were recorded and band structure for nonradiated and UV irradiated samples was calculated. It was found that quantity of localized states decreased after UV irradiation while density of localized states was dependent on concentration of PbS nanodots. Sulfidation Mechanism of Pure and Cu-Doped ZnO Nanoparticles at Moderate Temperature: TEM and In Situ XRD Studies

International audience; Sulfidation mechanism of pure and Cu-doped ZnO nanoparticles (Cu0.03Zn0.97O and Cu0.06Zn0.94O) at 250 and 350 degrees C was studied by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and in situ synchrotron XRD. For nondoped ZnO, we observed by TEM that partial reaction with H2S is accompanied by the formation of voids at the ZnO/ZnS interface. This phenomenon (known as the Kirkendall effect) confirms that sulfidation of nanosized ZnO by gaseous H2S proceeds via the outward growth of ZnS: Zn2+ and O2- are transferred to the external (ZnS/gas) surface, where zinc is combined with sulfur and oxygen reacts with protons yielding H2O. Mid-infrared 2000-nm bandwidth supercontinuum generation in suspended-core microstructured Sulfide and Tellurite optical fibers

International audience; In this work, we report the experimental observation of supercontinua generation in two kinds of suspended-core microstructured soft-glass optical fibers. Low loss, highly nonlinear, tellurite and As2S3 chalcogenide fibers have been fabricated and pumped close to their zero-dispersion wavelength in the femtosecond regime by means of an optical parametric oscillator pumped by a Ti:Sapphire laser. When coupled into the fibers, the femtosecond pulses result in 2000-nm bandwidth supercontinua reaching the Mid-Infrared region and extending from 750 nm to 2.8 mu m in tellurite fibers and 1 mu m to 3.2 mu m in chalcogenide fibers, respectively.
