Experimental determination of the phase relations of Pt and Pd antimonides and bismuthinides in the Fe-Ni-Cu sulfide systems between 1100 and 700 °C

Abstract The stability relations of Pt and Pd antimonides and bismuthinides in the Sb- and Bi-bearing Fe-Ni-Cu sulfide systems have been experimentally determined at temperatures between 1100 and 700 °C in evacuated silica tubes. Both PtSb and PdSb are stable as immiscible liquids at temperatures above 1100 and 1000 °C, respectively. The Fe-Ni-Cu-sulfide melt that coexists with the immiscible antimonide melt can dissolve up to 3.8 wt% Sb at 1100 °C, whereas monosulfide solid solution (mss) dissolves very low amounts of Sb over the entire 1100–700 °C temperature range. Anodic Dehydrogenative Cyanamidation of Thioethers: Simple and Sustainable Synthesis of N‐Cyanosulfilimines

Abstract A novel and very simple to perform electrochemical approach for the synthesis of several N‐cyanosulfilimines in good to excellent yields was established. This method provides access to biologically relevant sulfoximines by consecutive oxidation using electro‐generated periodate. This route can be easily scaled‐up to gram quantities. The S,N coupling is carried out at an inexpensive carbon anode by direct oxidation of sulfide. Therefore, the designed process is atom economic and represents a new “green route” for the synthesis of sulfilimines and sulfoximines.

Degradable cationic nanohydrogel particles for stimuli-responsive release of siRNA.

Well-defined nanogels have become quite attractive as safe and stable carriers for siRNA delivery. However, to avoid nanoparticle accumulation, they need to provide a stimuli-responsive degradation mechanism that can be activated at the payload's site of action. Cadmium sulfide/magnetite/polymer multifunctional hybrid nanoparticles are prepared by crystallizing CdS in a controlled manner on the surface of phosphonate-functionalized polystyrene particles with a magnetic core. Rheological behavior and thermal stability of poly(phenylene sulfide)/vectra-B950 blends

Blends of polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) with a commercial, wholly aromatic, liquid crystalline polymer (LCP), Vectra-B950, have been prepared by melt-blending. Their rheological behavior has been studied in order to determine if the LCP displays a processing aid ability, and under what conditions it gives rise to potentially reinforcing fibrils dispersed in the PPS matrix. The problem of the thermal stability of PPS/LCP blends, which has been considered by some authors as the main obstacle to the production of usable materials due to the evolution of gaseous substances during processing, has been discussed. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

Summary Changes in the microstructure of complex sulfide ores resulting from reactive thermal treatments in either H2 or N2 were investigated qualitatively by combined scanning electron microscopy and X ray microanalysis, and quantitatively by mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP) and mercury pycnometry. The Nucleating Effect of a Semiflexible Liquid-Crystalline Polymer for the Crystallization of Poly(Phenylene Sulfide)

Abstract Blends of poly(phenylene sulfide) and a semiflexible liquid-crystalline polymer have been prepared, in the whole range of concentration, by melt mixing. The effect of the LCP phase on the crystallization of PPS has been studied by non-isothermal and isothermal calorimetry. It has been found that the addition of only 2-5% LCP into PPS strongly increases the crystallization rate of the latter polymer. This effect has been interpreted as the result of an increased nucleation density. Thallium geochemistry in the metamorphic Lengenbach sulfide deposit, Switzerland: Thallium-isotope fractionation in a sulfide melt

The Lengenbach (Switzerland) Pb-As-Tl-Zn deposit was formed from a sulfide melt at about 500 °C during Alpine metamorphism, but details on its formation and especially the source of the metals are still under debate. Deposition of very thin uniform indium sulfide layers over metallic nano-rods by the Spray-Ion Layer Gas Reaction method

Abstract Very thin and uniform layers of indium sulfide were deposited on nickel nano-rods using the sequential and cyclical Spray-ILGAR® (Ion Layer Gas Reaction) technique. Substrates were fabricated by electrodeposition of Ni within the pores of polycarbonate membranes and subsequent chemical dissolution of the template. With respect to the depositions on flat substrates, experimental conditions were modified and optimized for the present geometry.
