Ortokeratoloģijas lēcas dizaina ietekme uz acs aksiālā garuma izmaiņām.

2020

Fast blue B functionalized silica-polymer composite to evaluate 3,5-dihy-droxyhydrocinnamic acid as biomarker of gluten intake

2021

Celiac disease is an immune-mediated systemic disorder elicited by gluten and related prolamines in genetically susceptible individuals. The current treatment is a strict and lifelong gluten-free diet. However, compliance with the gluten-free diet is not always adequate and many food products contain low concentrations of gluten. The determination of dietary transgressions is a challenge for patients, physicians and dietitians. Alkylresorcinols (AR) have been proposed as sensitive and specific biomarkers of gluten consumption. In this work silica-polymer composites doped with fast blue B reagent (FB) have been used to estimate alkylresorcinols in biological samples. The proposed colorimetri…

Description of Solid-to-Solid Redox Processes Based on the Voltammetry of Immobilized Particles Methodology: A Logistic Approximation

2022

A semiempirical model to describe the voltammetry of nontopotactic solid-to-solid redox processes occurring in the voltammetry of immobilized particles (VIMP) electrochemistry is described. It is applied to the reduction of solid metal compounds to the corresponding metal in contact with suitable electrolytes. The model is based on the assumption that the transferred charge is a logistic function of the applied potential, a situation that applies for reversible redox processes involving strongly adsorbed reactants. The model satisfactorily applies to reproduce linear potential scan curves recorded for graphite electrodes modified with different lead compounds (PbO, PbCl2·2H2O, lead-tin yell…

Lithium adsorption at prismatic graphite surfaces enhances interlayer cohesion

2013

Abstract We use density functional calculations to determine the binding sites and binding energies of Li + at graphene edges and prismatic graphite surfaces. Binding is favorable at bare and carbonyl terminated surfaces, but not favorable at hydrogen terminated surfaces. These findings have implications for the exfoliation of graphitic anodes in lithium-ion batteries that happens if solute and solvent co-intercalate. First, specific adsorption facilitates desolvation of Li + . Second, chemisorption lowers the surface energy by about 1 J m −2 prismatic surface area, and gives graphite additional stability against exfoliation. The results offer an explanation for experiments that consistentl…

A metal-responsive interdigitated bilayer for selective quantification of mercury( ii ) traces by surface plasmon resonance

2016

Reusable surface plasmon resonance chips allowing the quantitative and selective detection of mercury(II) ions in water at the 0.01 nM level are reported. The surface-modified gold sensor consists of a rarefied self-assembled monolayer of octanethiol topped with a Langmuir–Blodgett monolayer of an amphiphilic and highly-specific chelator. The interdigitated architecture confers to the bilayer a high packing density, surface coverage, and binding-group accessibility.

Asymmetric synthesis of functionalized tetrahydrofluorenones via an NHC-catalyzed homoenolate Michael addition

2018

The first example of an N-heterocyclic carbene-catalyzed asymmetric desymmetrization of enal-tethered cyclohexadienones via an intramolecular homoenolate Michael addition/esterification reaction is described. This new protocol offers a direct entry to various functionalized tetrahydrofluorenones with three contiguous stereocenters in high yields, good diastereoselectivities and excellent enantioselectivities.

X-Ray structure, Hirshfeld analysis and DFT studies of two new hits of triazolyl-indole bearing alkylsulfanyl moieties

2021

Two new hits of triazolyl-indole containing two different alkylsulfanyl analogues named tert-butyl 2-((4-amino-5-(1H-indol-2-yl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)thio)acetate 2, and ethyl 2-((4-amino-5-(1H-indol-2-yl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)thio)acetate 3 were synthesized via reaction of 4-amino-5-(1H-indol-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazol-3(2H)-thione 1 with tert-butyl bromoacetate and ethyl chloroacetate in the presence of base (Et3N). The molecular structure of 2, and 3 was confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and 1H/13C- NMR spectroscopic techniques. In compound 2, the molecular packing depends on significant O...H (9.3%), N...H (12.4%) and S...H (3.1%) as well as relatively weak C...H (14.1%), S...C (…

Synergistic enhancement via plasmonic nanoplate-bacteria-nanorod supercrystals for highly efficient SERS sensing of food-borne bacteria

2017

Bio-sensing techniques utilizing metallic nanoparticles as a probe have gained more and more attention and play today an important role in the detection of bacteria. To date, although several sensing materials have been tested, there is still a long way to go to achieve a fast, low-cost, ultrasensitive and multifunctional substrate suitable for a universal biosensor for detection of bacterial cells. Here, we report a novel probe design based on anisotropic plasmonic nanoparticles organized to a biocompatible 3D bio-inorganic scaffold, i.e., nanoplate-bacteria-nanorod supercrystals (NBNS) with extremely high surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopic (SERS) activity as a model of synergistic plasm…

Dust environment of an airless object: A phase space study with kinetic models

2016

Abstract The study of dust above the lunar surface is important for both science and technology. Dust particles are electrically charged due to impact of the solar radiation and the solar wind plasma and, therefore, they affect the plasma above the lunar surface. Dust is also a health hazard for crewed missions because micron and sub-micron sized dust particles can be toxic and harmful to the human body. Dust also causes malfunctions in mechanical devices and is therefore a risk for spacecraft and instruments on the lunar surface. Properties of dust particles above the lunar surface are not fully known. However, it can be stated that their large surface area to volume ratio due to their irr…

Asymmetric Synthesis of Chiral Bimetallic [Ag28Cu12(SR)24]4– Nanoclusters via Ion Pairing

2016

In this work, a facile ion-pairing strategy for asymmetric synthesis of optically active negatively charged chiral metal nanoparticles using chiral ammonium cations is demonstrated. A new thiolated chiral three-concentric-shell cluster, [Ag28Cu12(SR)24]4–, was first synthesized as a racemic mixture and characterized by single-crystal X-ray structure determination. Mass spectrometric measurements revealed relatively strong ion-pairing interactions between the anionic nanocluster and ammonium cations. Inspired by this observation, the as-prepared racemic mixture was separated into enantiomers by employing chiral quaternary ammonium salts as chiral resolution agents. Subsequently, direct asymm…
