Overview of methods used to evaluate the adequacy of nutrient intakes for individuals and populations
2009
The objective of the present paper is to review the methods of measuring micronutrient intake adequacy for individuals and for populations in order to ascertain best practice. A systematic review was conducted to locate studies on the methodological aspects of measuring nutrient adequacy. The results showed that for individuals, qualitative methods (to find probability of adequacy) and quantitative methods (to find confidence of adequacy) have been proposed for micronutrients where there is enough data to set an average nutrient requirement (ANR). If micronutrients do not have ANR, an adequate intake (AI) is often defined and can be used to assess adequacy, provided the distribution of dail…
Work Ability after Breast Cancer: Study of Healthcare Personnel Operating in a Hospital of South Italy
2022
Breast cancer (BrC) treatment can produce disabilities that often impact the quality of daily life and impact the social and working relationships of the patient. This paper looked into the remaining work ability in a group of female healthcare personnel (HCPs) with BrC in Southern Italy. Each HCP was subjected to a medical check, routine blood tests, and a questionnaire on the work ability index (WAI). Of 980 (100%) HCWs undergoing health control, 6% (n = 54) had experienced BRC, and only 66.6% (n = 36) agreed to take part in the study. A total of 28 (78%) were on night shifts. The WAI score was quite low in 5 (13.8%) cases, moderate in 10 (27.7%) cases, good in 14 (38.8%) cases, and excel…
DISCOVER POTENTIAL SEGMENTS OF WINE SHOPS BASING ON SALES STRATEGIES BY CLUSTER ANALYSIS
2015
The HORECA channel is a very important for promoting high-quality wines. In fact, through this distribution channel, consumers can experience wines before purchasing, taste them also with foods and receive additional information. Market segmentation is very crucial for businesses; therefore specific criteria must be applied for a successful segmentation. In this study wine shop segmentation was carried out by explorative hierarchical Cluster Analysis in order to discover potential segments of wine shops and wine bars based on their sales strategies. Moreover, wine shop(s) role in dissemination of information about quality wines was investigated. A census was carried out in a selected Italia…
Does News Frame Affect Free Movement Attitudes? A Comparative Analysis
2021
The policy of free movement—one of the core principles of the European Union—has become increasingly politicized. This makes it more important to understand how attitudes toward free movement are shaped, and the role of the media. The purpose of this study is therefore to investigate how news frames affect attitudes toward free movement, and whether education moderates framing effects. The findings from a survey experiment conducted in seven European countries show that the effects are few and inconsistent across countries. This suggest that these attitudes are not easily shifted by exposure to a single news frame.
COMPLIANCE PROGRAM IN LATVIAS’ BANKING SECTOR: THE RESULTS OF A SURVEY
2012
Regulators more than ever believe an efficient compliance function is a prerequisite for good corporate governance that should restore trust, integrity, and responsibility in the banks, findings in academic research has confirmed mentioned above in many countries. Compliance is very complex function and covers different areas: Anti-money laundering, investment protection, consumer protection, data protection and etc. Compliance complexity arises from severa…
On the use of LSPIV-based free software programs for the monitoring of river: testing the PIVlab and the FUDAA-LSPIV with synthetic and real image se…
2020
<p>The development of new image-based techniques is allowing a radical change in the environmental monitoring field. The fundamental characteristics of these methods are related to the possibility of obtaining non-intrusive measurements even in adverse circumstances, such as high flow conditions, which may seriously threaten the operators’ safety conditions in traditional approaches.</p><p>Optical techniques, based on the acquisition, analysis and elaboration of sequences of images acquired by digital cameras, are aimed at a complete characterization of the river instantaneous surface velocity field, through the analysis of a floating…
Modelling of Water Supply Costs
2017
Water supply tariffs setting is a labour intensive regulatory procedure; currently number of informative and procedural shortages and problems exist. The aim of the current research is improvement of methodology for determination of the substantiated costs for provision of water services. A working hypothesis was advanced to modernize the methodology: the specific costs (/m3) required for the provision of water services in a specific region is a variable multi-parameter function of key performance indicators. There is preferred a benchmark modelling procedure, which is based on the factual cases (declared indicators of water utilities) and synthesis of the general regularity. The model is d…
Aquatic Surface Robots: the State of the Art, Challenges and Possibilities
2020
In this paper, a survey of the state of the art, challenges, and possibilities for aquatic surface robots is presented. To this end, a survey and classification of aquatic surface robots is first outlined. Then, different levels of autonomy are identified for this typology of robots and categorised into environmental complexity, mission complexity, and external system independence. From this perspective, a step-wise approach is adopted on how to increment aquatic surface robots abilities within guidance, navigation, and control in order to target the different levels of autonomy. Possibilities and challenges for designing aquatic surface robots as carriers for conducting research activities…
Website quality and internal business factors: An empirical investigation in the Italian wine industry
2016
Purpose The purpose of this paper is dual. The first is to assess the quality of websites of Italian wineries, using the Web Assessment Index (WAI), and compare e-commerce and e-marketing websites. The second is to verify the existence of a relationship between the website quality and business revenue, on one hand, and the characteristics of managers, on the other. Design/methodology/approach A two-step survey was carried out to respond to the aims of the study. First, a sample of wineries was contacted to capture information on both the wineries and managerial characteristics. On the basis of the observed data, a second step of the analysis was performed taking into consideration 84 winer…
