Density functional theory based screening of ternary alkali-transition metal borohydrides: a computational material design project.
2009
We present a computational screening study of ternary metal borohydrides for reversible hydrogen storage based on density functional theory. We investigate the stability and decomposition of alloys containing 1 alkali metal atom, Li, Na, or K M1; and 1 alkali, alkaline earth or 3d / 4d transition metal atom M2 plus two to five BH4 groups, i.e., M1M2BH42‐5, using a number of model structures with trigonal, tetrahedral, octahedral, and free coordination of the metal borohydride complexes. Of the over 700 investigated structures, about 20 were predicted to form potentially stable alloys with promising decomposition energies. The M1Al/ Mn/ FeBH44, Li/ NaZnBH43, and Na/ KNi/ CoBH43 alloys are …
From common operational picture to common situational understanding: An analysis based on practitioner perspectives
2021
Abstract The concepts of Situational Awareness (SA) and Common Operational Picture (COP) are closely related and well-acknowledged to be crucial factors for effective emergency management. In multi-agency operations, such as extreme weather events, the involved first responders manage the event with different mandates, objectives, and tools which can make it challenging to build a COP. Effective collaboration requires a common situational understanding, based on knowledge about each other’s responsibilities and tasks, mutual respect and trust, as well as common communication tools for emergency communication and information sharing. This paper argues that the COP serves as a basis for decid…
Employee Information Security Practices: A Framework and Research Agenda
2020
Author's accepted manuscript Employee information security practices are pivotal to prevent, detect, and respond to security incidents. This paper synthesizes insights from research on challenges related to employee information security practices and measures to address them. The challenges identified are associated to idiosyncratic aspects of communities and individuals within organizations (culture and personal characteristics) and to systemic aspects of organizations (procedural and structural arrangements). The measures identified aim to enhance systemic capabilities and to adapt security mechanisms to the idiosyncratic characteristics and are categorized as: (a) measures of training an…
Middleware for transparent TCP connection migration : masking faulty TCP-based services
2004
Masteroppgave i informasjons- og kommunikasjonsteknologi 2004 - Høgskolen i Agder, Grimstad Mission critical TCP-based services create a demand for robust and fault tolerant TCP communication. Sense Intellifield monitors drill operations on rig sites offshore. Critical TCP-based services need to be available 24 hours, 7 days a week, and the service providers need to tolerate server failure. How to make TCP robust and fault tolerant without modifying existing infrastructure like existing client/server applications, services, TCP stacks, kernels, or operating systems is the motivation of this thesis. We present a new middleware approach, first of its kind, to allow TCP-based services to survi…
Adopsjon og bruk av møtestøttesystem for byggebransjen
2006
Online Edge Flow Imputation on Networks
2022
Author's accepted manuscript © 2022 IEEE. Personal use of this material is permitted. Permission from IEEE must be obtained for all other uses, in any current or future media, including reprinting/republishing this material for advertising or promotional purposes, creating new collective works, for resale or redistribution to servers or lists, or reuse of any copyrighted component of this work in other works. An online algorithm for missing data imputation for networks with signals defined on the edges is presented. Leveraging the prior knowledge intrinsic to real-world networks, we propose a bi-level optimization scheme that exploits the causal dependencies and the flow conservation, respe…
Health app policy:international comparison of nine countries' approaches
2022
An abundant and growing supply of digital health applications (apps) exists in the commercial tech-sector, which can be bewildering for clinicians, patients, and payers. A growing challenge for the health care system is therefore to facilitate the identification of safe and effective apps for health care practitioners and patients to generate the most health benefit as well as guide payer coverage decisions. Nearly all developed countries are attempting to define policy frameworks to improve decision-making, patient care, and health outcomes in this context. This study compares the national policy approaches currently in development/use for health apps in nine countries. We used secondary d…
Supporting Inter-Agency Collaboration in Emergency Management: Recurring Challenges Relevant for CSCW
2023
Emergency management requires effective collaboration between different agencies. This work implies several challenges due to a heterogeneous mix of actors with different procedures, practices, and support tools. Despite being focused in various research streams, emergency responders still report challenges with sharing information and establishing shared situational awareness in responding to complex events. The paper presents results from a large-scale digital tabletop exercise that illustrate recurring challenges related to support for collaborative procedures, a communication network structure combining several media, use of geocollaborative tools, and configuration of collaborative env…
Positive and negative factors in agent oriented software development : a case study
2006
Masteroppgave i informasjonssystemer 2006 - Høgskolen i Agder, Kristiansand This thesis attempts to pinpoint the main differences in agent oriented software engineering as opposed to more legacy approaches. The agent paradigm, still in its infancy, is believed to offer exciting new prospects to the process of modern complex information systems development, but although many tools, frameworks and applications are readily available, there is as of yet no specific research on how these technologies affects and differ the development process. The research approach in finding these factors was two-folded. By conducting a comprehensive literature study, a set of implications was derived to repres…
Flerkanals multimedia over IP
2001
