Learned Sorted Table Search and Static Indexes in Small-Space Data Models

2023

Machine-learning techniques, properly combined with data structures, have resulted in Learned Static Indexes, innovative and powerful tools that speed up Binary Searches with the use of additional space with respect to the table being searched into. Such space is devoted to the machine-learning models. Although in their infancy, these are methodologically and practically important, due to the pervasiveness of Sorted Table Search procedures. In modern applications, model space is a key factor, and a major open question concerning this area is to assess to what extent one can enjoy the speeding up of Binary Searches achieved by Learned Indexes while using constant or nearly constant-space mod…

Advanced RDB-to-RDF/OWL Mapping Facilities in RDB2OWL

2011

We present advanced features of RDB2OWL mapping specification language that allows expressing RDB-to-RDF/OWL mappings in a concise and human comprehensible way. The RDB2OWL mappings can be regarded as documentation of the database-to-ontology relation. The RDB2OWL language uses the OWL ontology structure as a backbone for mapping specification by placing the database link information into the annotations for ontology classes and properties. Its features include reuse of database table key information, user defined scalar and aggregate functions, table-based functions and multiclass conceptualization that is essential to keep mappings compact in case when large tables are mapped onto several…

Timing effect of intramyocardial hydrogel injection for positively impacting left ventricular remodeling after myocardial infarction

2015

Intramyocardial injection of various injectable hydrogel materials has shown benefit in positively impacting the course of left ventricular (LV) remodeling after myocardial infarction (MI). However, since LV remodeling is a complex, time dependent process, the most efficacious time of hydrogel injection is not clear. In this study, we injected a relatively stiff, thermoresponsive and bioabsorbable hydrogel in rat hearts at 3 different time points - immediately after MI (IM), 3 d post-MI (3D), and 2 w post-MI (2W), corresponding to the beginnings of the necrotic, fibrotic and chronic remodeling phases. The employed left anterior descending coronary artery ligation model showed expected infar…

Tetraallylsilane π-Complexation: Synthesis and Structure of [Cu5Cl5(CH2-CH=CH2)4Si]

2009

By alternating-current electrochemical technique, starting from CuCl2·2H2O and tetraallylsilane (TAS), crystals of the π complex [Cu5Cl5(CH2–CH=CH2)4Si] (I) were obtained, FTIR characterized and structurally investigated. The structure of I is monoclinic, space group P21/n, a = 12.292(3), b = 12.083(3), c = 13.356(3) A, β = 90.19(3)°, V = 1983.7(9) A3 [at 100(2) K], Z = 4; R1 = 0.0379, wR2 = 0.1040 for 3583 reflections. The TAS molecule behaves as a tetradentate cross-bridged ligand linking four (Cu5Cl5)∞ fragments through the C=C bonds. The influence of the inorganic part and ligand symmetries combined with their conformational abilities on the overall crystal symmetry is discussed.

Synthesis and characterisation of p-block complexes of biquinoline at different ligand charge states

2017

The first examples of p-block coordination complexes of biquinoline, namely [(biq)BCl2]Cl and [(biq)BCl2]˙, were synthesized and structurally characterized. The acquired data allowed the estimation of the ligand charge state based on its metrical parameters. The subsequent use of this protocol, augmented with theoretical calculations, revealed ambiguities in the published data for transition metal complexes of biquinoline. peerReviewed

NbxRu6-xTe8, New Chevrel-Type Clusters Containing Niobium and Ruthenium,

1996

Phases of composition Nb(x)()Ru(6)(-)(x)()Te(8) were prepared by reacting stoichiometric mixtures of the elements at high temperature in evacuated silica ampules. The structure of Nb(3.33)Ru(2.67)Te(8) was refined from X-ray powder data using the Rietveld method. Nb(3.33)Ru(2.67)Te(8) crystallizes isotypic with Mo(6)Q(8) (Q = S, Se, Te) in the rhombohedral space group Rthremacr; with the hexagonal lattice parameters a = 10.34106(5) Å, c = 11.47953(7) Å, and Z = 3. Its structure consists of M(6)Te(8) mixed-metal clusters (M = Nb, Ru) which are connected by intercluster M-Te bonds to form a three-dimensional network. Metal-metal bonding in these phases is analyzed in terms of Pauling bond ord…

K2AuPS4, TI2AuPS4, K2AuAsS4, and KAu5P2S8: Syntheses, structures, and properties of quaternary gold thiophosphate and thioarsenate compounds

1998

The novel compounds K2AuPS4 (1), Tl2AuPS4 (2), K2AuAsS4 (3), and KAu5P2S8 (4) have been synthesized by direct reaction of the elements with a molten alkaline polythiophosphate(arsenate) flux at 550°C. The crystal structures of these compounds have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. 1, 2, and 3 crystallize in the monoclinic space group P21/m. The structures of 1, 2, and 3 consist of infinite, one-dimensional anionic chains running along the crystallographic b axis. The chains are separated by potassium or thallium ions. Neighbouring Au atoms are bridged by MS43− tetrahedra (M = P, As) in a trans orientation. Compound 4 crystallizes in the space group P21/c. The a…
