Evaluation of an eHealth intervention aiming to promote healthy food habits from infancy -the Norwegian randomized controlled trial Early Food for Fu…
2019
Background Strategies to optimize early-life nutrition provide an important opportunity for primary prevention of childhood obesity. Interventions that can be efficiently scaled-up to the magnitude needed for sustainable childhood obesity prevention are needed. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of an eHealth intervention on parental feeding practices and infant eating behaviors. Methods The Norwegian study Early Food for Future Health is a randomized controlled trial. Parents were recruited via social media and child health clinics during spring 2016 when their child was aged 3 to 5 months. In total 718 parents completed a web-based baseline questionnaire at child age …
Impact of a stay in the intensive care unit on the preparation of Advance Directives: Descriptive, exploratory, qualitative study.
2017
Abstract Background Our objective was to assess, through a qualitative, exploratory study, the thought processes of patients regarding the formulation of advance directives (AD) after a stay in the ICU. Methods The study was conducted from May to July 2016 using telephone interviews performed by four senior ICU physicians. Inclusion criteria were: patients discharged from ICU to home > 3 months earlier. Semi-directive interviews with patients focused on 5 main points surrounding AD. Results In total, among 159 eligible patients, data from 94 (59%) were available for analysis. Among all those interviewed, 83.5% had never heard of “advance directives”. Only 2% had executed AD before ICU admis…
Sigma-fragmentability and the property SLD in C(K) spaces
AbstractWe characterize two topological properties in Banach spaces of type C(K), namely, being σ-fragmented by the norm metric and having a countable cover by sets of small local norm-diameter (briefly, the property norm-SLD). We apply our results to deduce that Cp(K) is σ-fragmented by the norm metric when K belongs to a certain class of Rosenthal compacta as well as to characterize the property norm-SLD in Cp(K) in case K is scattered.
Antimony-121 Mössbauer spectra of organoantimony derivatives containing Sb-Sb bonds
1994
121-Sb Mossbauer data are reported for a number of organoantimony rings and catena-stibanes. These compounds are representative of RSb(Sb)2 and R2SbSb type of coordination, and spectral parameters are compared and discussed in relation to RSbCl2 and R2SbCl systems. Although the trend in isomer shift is similar, the present compounds show slightly less negative isomer shift values together with a remarkable reduction of the quadrupolar coupling constant. A rationalization of the quadrupolar interaction in the above series of compounds appears feasible by using point charge model calculations whose results, in terms of bonding, indicate a large contribution of p-electron density along Sb-Sb b…

A research program combining the analysis of situated activity and the development of training tools: an example from elite sport This article presents an original program that combines research and This article presents an original program that combines research and training development. Between 1997 and 2002, several studies of the activity of expert table tennis players during matches were carried out within the framework of course-of-action theory (Theureau, 1992, 2004). These studies had been formally agreed on by coaches, athletes and researchers and responded to both sports needs and scientific interests. Matches were videotaped during international meetings and followed by self-conf…
DOP21 Role of P2X7 in intestinal fibrosis and inflammasome activation: Relevance in Crohn′s Disease
2021
Abstract Background Crohn’s disease (CD) is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the gastrointestinal tract whose etiology is unknown. CD is associated with complications such as fibrosis or fistula, which cannot be pharmacologically reversed, requiring repeated surgery. Although a profibrotic effect of the P2X7 receptor has been described in some scenarios such as lung, heart and liver, its role in intestinal fibrosis has not been analysed yet. Given the crosstalk between fibrosis and inflammasome, we aim to analyze the relevance of P2X7 in intestinal fibrosis and inflammasome activation. Methods Surgical intestinal resections of CD patients and healthy ileum of carcinoma patients were obtai…
Carotenoid bioaccessibility in pulp and fresh juice from carotenoid-rich sweet oranges and mandarins.
2015
Citrus fruits are a good source of carotenoids for the human diet; however, comparative studies of carotenoids in different citrus food matrices are scarce. In this work the concentration and bioaccessibility of carotenoids in sweet oranges and mandarins with marked differences in carotenoid composition were evaluated in pulp and compared to those in fresh juice. The pulp and juice of the red-fleshed Cara Cara sweet orange variety was highly rich in carotenes (mainly lycopene and phytoene) compared to standard Navel orange, while β-cryptoxanthin and phytoene predominated in mandarins. Total carotenoid content in the pulp of the ordinary Navel orange and in the red-fleshed Cara Cara orange, …
Portable microwave assisted extraction: An original concept for green analytical chemistry.
2013
International audience; This paper describes a portable microwave assisted extraction apparatus (PMAE) for extraction of bioac-tive compounds especially essential oils and aromas directly in a crop or in a forest. The developed procedure, based on the concept of green analytical chemistry, is appropriate to obtain direct in-field information about the level of essential oils in natural samples and to illustrate green chemical lesson and research. The efficiency of this experiment was validated for the extraction of essential oil of rosemary directly in a crop and allows obtaining a quantitative information on the content of essential oil, which was similar to that obtained by conventional m…
From putative genes to temperament and culture: Cultural characteristics of the distribution of dominant affective temperaments in national studies
2010
Abstract Background Affective temperaments may carry distinct evolutionary advantages both on the individual or a group level, so we can expect that in different cultural and national samples the frequency of dominant affective temperaments will show characteristic differences. The aim of the present study was to investigate the characteristics of distribution of dominant affective temperaments in different national studies of general non-clinical population. Method In our study we included six studies published in different countries around the world (Argentina, Germany, Hungary, Korea, Portugal, and Lebanon) which investigated a large sample of non-clinical population using TEMPS-A, and r…
A new testing device for the role of the trunk in force production and in balance control in disabled sitting athletes
2017
In cross-country sit-skiing all athletes compete in a sitting position, but some of them have the ability to control their trunk more than others. The trunk plays an essential role in two performance determinants: propulsion generation and balance maintenance. The aim of the study is to design a new testing device assessing athletes’ responses to these propulsion determinants. The new device was composed of a seat surrounded by a sensorized aluminum frame. To assess propulsion generation, two force sensors were mounted in the anterior and posterior side of the frame, while two force sensors were embedded in two ropes elongated from the top of the frame. To measure trunk control, the device …
