The purpose of this research was to test novelty as a candidate basic psychological need according to the inclusion criteria established within basic psychological needs theory (BPNT). Self-determination theory has been applied to understand the role of affect in motivation and behavior in health contexts. According to self-determination theory, autonomous forms of motivation, reflecting self-endorsed reasons for acting and the satisfaction of psychological needs, are related to participation and persistence in health behavior. Läheisten rooli muistisairaiden hoivaajina on jo nyt merkittävä, ja se tulee kasvamaan. Muistisairaudet yleistyvät pitkäikäisyyden lisääntyessä, ja vanhushoivapolitiikassa painotetaan kotona asumista. Tässä tutkimuksessa selvitetään muistisairaan puolisoille ja aikuisille lapsille tarjottua tiedollista tukea, palveluohjausta ja palveluja. Lisäksi tarkastellaan, millainen yhteys eri taustatekijöillä on palvelujen tarjontaan, ja miten saatu tieto ja palveluohjaus vaikuttavat tarjottuihin palveluihin. The present study examined the influence of the three basic psychological needs on autonomous motivation in educational settings in the light of additive, synergistic, and balance hypotheses. Participants were 679 high school students (Mage = 16.16, 49.3% girls). The findings supported the additive hypothesis: all three needs had unique effects on autonomous motivation. The synergistic hypothesis was only partially supported: one two-way interaction between autonomy and competence had effect on autonomous motivation. A high level of satisfaction of the need for autonomy led to autonomous motivation regardless of satisfaction of the need for competence. However, competence was positively rel…
