Purpose: To investigate the possible association between ventilatory settings on the first day of invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) and mortality in patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) with severe acute respiratory infection (SARI). Materials and methods: In this pre-planned sub-study of a prospective, multicentre observational study, 441 patients with SARI who received controlled IMV during the ICU stay were included in the analysis. Results: ICU and hospital mortality rates were 23.1 and 28.1%, respectively. Laparoscopic management of cholecystocolonic fistula: A case report and a brief literature review

Highlights • Cholecystoenteric fistula is a rare and late complication of cholelithiasis. • We report a case of cholecysto-colonic fistula with hepatic flexure management by laparoscopic approach, a 64 years old male patients with fever of an unknown origins for two months and abdominal pain. • We performed laparoscopic cholecystectomy and repaired colonic wall with intra-corporeal sutures. • The laparoscopic management of cholecystoeneteric fistula is a feasible and safe procedure but the operative strategy should be individualized.

This study focuses on decision-making within operational teams. Grounding our argumentation on group decision-making literature, we argue that adverse behavior patterns may affect the way in which consensus is achieved within the team, and that team performance has an inverted U-shaped relationship with the level of consensus. Then, by relying on leadership literature, we pose the hypothesis that the level of shared leadership inside the group moderates this U-shaped relationship. There are three main subjects : acquisitions' social inequalities, teacher-effect and children' interest about in class musical activities. Abstract. Since the end of the nineties endovenous thermal ablation and more recently non-thermal, non-tumescent techniques have been developed and improved. Until now, because of their favourable side effect profile in conjunction to sustained efficacy, in many countries they already replaced high ligation and stripping in the treatment of refluxing saphenous veins as well as for treatment of perforators and selected tributaries. Now, studies and comparative trials are available with long-term follow-ups for most of the techniques, providing valid data on occlusion and reflux rates, side effect profiles, and health related quality of life.

RESUMO O trabalho explicita as representações contemporâneas da História da América no ensino de História na Espanha. Explicita e problematiza as configurações textuais e iconográficas que pretendem ensinar uma história do “descobrimento”, da conquista e da colonização da América. Usou-se a metodologia da pesquisa bibliográfica e de campo, com técnica de fichamento e observações analíticas de obras historiográficas contemporâneas, livros didáticos e lugares de memória (museus e monumentos históricos).
