Serum antioxidant capacity and peroxide level of seven healthy subjects after consumption of different foods
2016
This article reports experimental data related to the research article entitled “Different effectiveness of two pastas supplemented with either lipophilic or hydrophilic/phenolic antioxidants in affecting serum as evaluated by the novel Antioxidant/Oxidant Balance approach” (M.N. Laus, M. Soccio, M. Alfarano, A. Pasqualone, M.S. Lenucci, G. Di Miceli, D. Pastore, 2016) [1]. Antioxidant status of blood serum of seven healthy subjects was evaluated during four hours after consumption of two functional pastas, supplemented with either bran oleoresin or bran water extract obtained from durum wheat. For comparison, the effect of a non-supplemented reference pasta was also evaluated, as well as t…
Mity antyczne we francuskim dramacie XX wieku (na wybranych przykładach)
2017
The French theatre of the 20th century willingly treats and revisits ancient myths. Oedipus, Antigone, Electra, the Trojan War, Amphitryon appear in many writers’ works. The myth of Electra in Jean Giraudouxs version entitled Electra (1937), as well as Jean-Paul Sartres The Flies (1942) are interesting examples of metatexts. Face to the threat of war, Giraudoux, who was a diplomat and a Germanophile, focuses on the problem of power, responsibility, and justice, while Sartre exemplifies the existentialist philosophy and its main element: a man who is responsible for his actions and condemned to freedom. This was a particular challenge during the period of war and occupation. Jean Anouilh, in…
Revista electrónica de investigación y evaluación educativa
2006
The investigation results are presented: "An investigation or research about the most relevant variables from the student’s point of view which influence the general opinion about the teacher’s performance in the Universidad Autonoma de Occidente". The problems about the influence from the students perception in evaluating their teachers is taken on from two complementary perspectives: The first constitutes the qualitative analysis which has as a support the group interviews realized in each one of the academic programs. The second involves the quantitative analysis based on multivariate statistic tools. These perspectives allow elaborating a model to establish the grade of relevance each o…
COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS OF TYPE B AORTIC DISSECTION
2014
Type B aortic dissection (AoD) is a disease connected to high blood load on the aortic wall and to a reduced aortic wall resistance. Nowadays, prognosis on type B AoD results to be particularly difficult with an high incidence of patients treated with medical therapy which manifest complication connected with dissection and which should have been treated with surgical repair immediately. This work aims to study those haemodynamical and morphological proprieties of dissected aorta, which can influence the progression or stability of type B AoD. Computational fluid-dynamic analyses were performed on twenty-five patients with type B AoD, whose nine presented an aneurysm evolution and sixteen p…
Predicting Outcome of Aortic Dissection with Patent False Lumen by Computational Flow Analysis
2014
Although Type B aortic dissection (AoD) has better in-hospital survival than Type A AoD, the short- and long term outcome for patients remains challenging, with 50–80% deaths at 5-years. Dissection-related complications include rapid aortic expansion, impending rupture, and malperfusion syndromes. We aimed to assess hemodynamic implications of patients with patent false lumen (FL) of dissected aorta. Computational fluid dynamic analyses were performed on patient-specific aortic geometries reconstructed from computed tomography scans of 25 patients with AoDs, who were admitted in our hospital from 2007 to 2013. We used the development of acute complications and chronic aneurysmal evolution a…
Teacher's reflections on experimenting with technology-enriched inquiry-based mathematics teaching with a preplanned teaching unit
2013
Abstract According to previous studies, inquiry-based mathematics teaching enhances learning. However, teachers need support in implementing this type of teaching. In this study, a high school teacher was given a short preplanned inquiry-based mathematics teaching unit that included activities with GeoGebra. The teacher was interviewed after every lesson to explore her reflections after teaching. I analyzed how the teacher described the differences between her regular teaching style and the teaching unit and the pros and cons of the teaching unit. The teacher reflected on the roles of the teacher and students, depth of students’ knowledge, her stance toward the teaching unit, constraints fo…

2015
This paper investigates the teaching practices used by university mathematics teachers when lecturing, a topic within university mathematics education research which is gaining an increasing intere ...
Self-reported playing time and justice as predictors of coach satisfaction: An analysis of elite ice-hockey and handball players
2020
Intrateam competition for specific roles and playing time is a continuous imperative process in elite sport teams. The assessment of this competition is done by the coach and the outcome of this process has a significant impact on the team and the players. The following hypothesis was put forward for testing: Self-reported playing time and perceptions of justice among elite ice-hockey and handball players predict their satisfaction with the coach. Elite ice-hockey and handball players (N = 231) reported playing time and completed the Perceived Justice and Athlete Satisfaction Questionnaires. Hierarchical multiple regression analyses show that self-reported playing time, distributive justice…
