Developing emergent literacy in infant schools: a laboratory experience for the construction of the written language

Research, including the educational neuroscience, has highlighted the close relationship between emerging literacy and subsequent learning of reading and writing. Early verification of symbolic and linguistic skills is essential to support the development, and recovery strategies are to be prepared in case of early signs of difficulty. Refugee testimonies enacted : voice and solidarity in media art installations

This article examines how two media art installations in which celebrity actors enact refugee storytelling create awareness of the complexities of representation and solidarity with refugees. The celebrity actor produces familiarity, or “audibility,” for contents of the stories. Yet at the same time, the familiarity of the actor alerts the visitor to the politics of listening. The artworks therefore produce the potential for ethical listening, which requires interrogation into the privileges of the listener. This paper presents an experiential learning lab focused on building a digital storytelling using both robots with LEGO Mindstorms and virtual worlds with Kodu Game Lab. The experiential laboratory (32 hours) has involved 33 children of secondary schools in a collaborative learning setting in formal (school labs) and informal learning context (external cultural association). Gli oggetti hanno voce, se hanno vita. Bisogna prima interrogarsi sulla vita delle cose per poter ascoltare le loro voci. Mettendo a fuoco un caso esemplare, le scarpe, si prenderanno in considerazione sia gli oggetti narrati nei componimenti letterari, sia gli oggetti narranti, cioè quegli oggetti simbolici che sono capaci di raccontare uno stile di vita. Constructing a Transmedia Universe : The Case of Battlestar Galactica

In this article, we define a ‘transmedia universe’ as encompassing the complexity of transmedia storytelling, production and consumption. In doing so, we use the popular science fiction television series Battlestar Galactica as a case study, including both the original and reimagined versions of the series and their various intramedia and transmedia, narrative and non-narrative, and diegetic and non-diegetic expansions. Moreover, we look beyond the official productions of the Battlestar Galactica franchise and include, for example, user-generated content within its transmedia universe. peerReviewed
