Experimental study of the combined RES-based generators and electric storage systems for public buildings

2019

Abstract In the present paper, a new approach to the management of energy resources in the Research and Technology Centre of Energy (CRTEn -Tunisia) is proposed and evaluated by the monitoring of a PV installation realized for the cooperation project DE.DU.ENER.T, using renewable energy and economic criteria. The aim of this project is to improve energy efficiency order to minimize the electricity cost consumed at the CRTEn laboratory. According to the bills of electricity received, we noticed that there is a high consumption of electrical current. So, we targeted to install a photovoltaic field of 12KWc to reduce these bills by using the sustainable, green and clean sources. A theoretical …

A Hybrid Neural Network Architecture for Dynamic Scene Understanding

1997

A hyprdid (neural and symbolic) architecture allowing for a deep understanding of moving scenes is described. The architecture is based on a working and effective integration among three levels of representation of data coming out from external sensors.

Intrinsic generation of OH groups in dry silicon dioxide upon thermal treatments

2008

We show the existence of an intrinsic generation mechanism of OH groups in synthetic dry silica upon thermal treatments. Samples are treated for ~160 h at 390 °C in He at 2.7 or 180 bar, and the growth of the OH IR absorption band at 3670 cm−1 is observed. An OH concentration of ~10^18 cm^−3 is estimated. Possible contributions of reactions with molecules absorbed from the atmosphere are excluded. Reactions with H2O already contained in the samples are rejected by IR measurements. The observed OH generation is attributed to the reaction of network sites with H2 already present in the material. Possible reaction paths are examined

Soil erosion after land abandonment in a semiarid environment of southeastern Spain

1997

Different soil units were selected in southeastern Spain to investigate the effects of land abandonment on soil erosion under semiarid conditions. The study sites selected were a cultivated field (bare), a 3‐yr‐abandoned field (herbs), a 10‐yr‐abandoned field (Artemisia herba‐alba Asso.), and two soil units covered with semi‐native (Stipa tena‐cissima L) and native (Pinus halepensis Miller) vegetation. Simulated rainfall measurements showed that the erosion and runoff increased after the land abandonment, but later erosion decreased owing to the influence of increasing vegetation. Runoff discharge (35%) and the erosion rates (334 g m2 h‐1) were high in the 3‐yr‐abandoned land in comparison …

Proteinaceous and oligosaccharidic elicitors induce different calcium signatures in the nucleus of tobacco cells.

2005

We previously reported elevated cytosolic calcium levels in tobacco cells in response to elicitors [D. Lecourieux, C. Mazars, N. Pauly, R. Ranjeva, A. Pugin, Analysis and effects of cytosolic free calcium elevations in response to elicitors in Nicotiana plumbaginifolia cells, Plant Cell 14 (2002) 2627-2641]. These data suggested that in response to elicitors, Ca2+, as a second messenger, was involved in both systemic acquired resistance (RSA) and/or hypersensitive response (HR) depending on calcium signature. Here, we used transformed tobacco cells with apoaequorin expressed in the nucleus to monitor changes in free nuclear calcium concentrations ([Ca2+](nuc)) in response to elicitors. Two …

Purification, crystallization and preliminary X-ray studies of sylvaticin, an elicitin-like protein from Pythium sylvaticum.

2003

Sylvaticin belongs to the elicitin family. These 10 kDa oomycetous proteins induce a hypersensitive response in plants, including necrosis and cell death, but subsequently leading to a non-specific systemic acquired resistance (SAR) against other pathogens. Sylvaticin has been crystallized using PEG 2000 MME as a precipitant agent in the presence of nickel chloride. The crystals belong to space group C2, with unit-cell parameters a = 99.29, b = 25.67, c = 67.45 A, beta = 99.66 degrees. Diffraction data were recorded to 2.1 A resolution at a synchrotron-radiation source.

The Elicitor Cryptogein Blocks Glucose Transport in Tobacco Cells

2002

Abstract Cryptogein is a 10-kD protein secreted by the oomycetePhytophthora cryptogea that induces a hypersensitive response on tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum var. Xanthi) plants and a systemic acquired resistance against various pathogens. The mode of action of this elicitor has been studied using tobacco cell suspensions. Our previous data indicated that within minutes, cryptogein signaling involves various events including changes in ion fluxes, protein phosphorylation, sugar metabolism, and, eventually, cell death. These results suggested that transport of sugars could be affected and, thus, involved in the complex relationships between plant and microorganisms via elicitors. This led us to…

Tissue invasiveness and non-acidic pH in human candidiasis correlate with "in vivo" expression by Candida albicans of the carbohydrate epitope recogn…

2004

Background: The morphogenetic conversion between yeast and hyphal growth forms appears to be crucial in the pathogenesis of invasive candidiasis, and can be regulated by environmental signals such as extracellular pH. Aims: To characterise the epitope recognised by monoclonal antibody 1H4, and to evaluate the expression of its corresponding epitope in Candida albicans cells under different conditions of pH and temperature, and “in vivo”, in tissue samples from patients with human candidiasis. Methods: Monoclonal antibody 1H4 was generated against the 58 kDa cell wall mannoprotein of C albicans (mp58), and was further characterised by immunoblot analysis, periodate treatment of the antigenic…

WT Type 4 Benchmarks for IEC 61400-27-1

2019

Since several years there has been a constant effort at international level for the standardization and the validation of different types of wind turbine (WT) dynamic models. The paper focuses on the IEC 61400-27-1 type 4 model, proposing and fully describing two benchmark systems for the assessment of dynamic performance. The first system is a simple setup and it is designed to specifically assess the transient response of the WT controls. The second system is based on the IEEE 9-bus test system, and it is a multi-machine configuration allowing for the inclusion of the typical power system dynamics of synchronous machines and corresponding primary regulators. System configurations, models …
