AbstractWe review the psychophysics of the spatio-temporal contrast sensitivity in the cardinal directions of the colour space and their correlation with those neural characteristics of the visual system that limit the ability to perform contrast detection or pattern-resolution tasks. We focus our attention particularly on the influence of luminance level, spatial extent and spatial location of the stimuli - factors that determine the characteristics of the physiological mechanisms underlying detection. La l. 5 dicembre 2005, n. 251 ("ex Cirielli"), innovando l''istituto della prescrizione del reato, ha fatto sorgere problemi in ordine al regime intertemporale da applicare relativamente alle norme più favorevoli introdotte. La declaratoria di incostituzionalità di una parte della disciplina transitoria pone all''interprete la questione riguardante l''individuazione del momento iniziale della "pendenza" dell''appello. L''Autore, alla luce delle scelte giurisprudenziali adottate, suggerisce una soluzione conforme ai principi costituzionali e auspica una presa di posizione delle Sezioni unite in grado di evitare un trattamento differenziato tra gli imputati dei diversi processi in corso.

Developmental dyslexia: atypical cortical asymmetries and functional significance

Using brain magnetic resonance imaging, we measured in 16 young developmental dyslexic adults and 14 age-matched controls cortical asymmetries of posterior language-related areas, including Planum temporale and parietal operculum cortical ribbon, and of the inferior frontal region related in the left hemisphere to speech processing. In addition, we assessed the sulcal morphology of the inferior frontal gyrus in both groups according to a qualitative method. The dyslexic subjects also performed specific tasks exploring different aspects of phonological and lexical-semantic processes.
