Pursuit for the Tao through the Silkworm: A Conversation with Liang Shaoji

The Chinese artist Liang Shaoji has been working intensively with silkworms for almost 30 years. His abundant art practices under the Nature Series have become a unique phenomenon in Chinese contemporary art. Liang was awarded the Chinese Contemporary Art Award (CCAA) in 2002 and the Prince Claus Award in 2009. In this conversation, he discusses how he has transformed the life process of the silkworm into an artistic language to explore the relationship between human beings and non-human life. He also articulated the association between the Nature Series and philosophy, history and culture, highlighting the integrity of ecology and culture, an idea which has traditionally been highly valued…
La Biblioteca dell'Università
2022

2020
ABSTRACT: This paper addresses the issue of the crisis or vanishing of authority in contemporary culture in the particular form of the problem of legitimacy in the use of language. What grounds can speakers find in order to justify their claim to be listened to? I point out that, since this problem has been examined for quite some time in the area of Biblical studies, we could improve our understanding of the current situation by means of an interdisciplinary dialogue. From this perspective, I consider claims to authority under three headings: prophecy, or the individual authority of the speaker; interpretation, or authority derived from a written source; fiction, or renouncing authority; a…
Louise Doutreligne’s Signé Pombo: a French dramatic transposition of the Manuel Vázquez Montalbán’s "Autobiografía del general Franco"
2014
New Approaches in the Analysis of the Contemporary Dramatic Character
2013
Abstract The character is the core of dramaturgy. The current paper aims to present the newest research regarding the contemporary dramatic character. The study looks at the recent theoretical approaches that hold a double perspective on the character: as a writer's composition and as an actor's performance. The character is defined through his name, implication and role in the action, but also through his own discourse. Based on the connection between similarities and differences, each trait of a character facilitates the revelation of the whole image. The result is a microcosmic structure of a specific typology of characters, interconnected and interdependent. Certain specific, defining c…
Reina María Rodríguez: A Poetic of the Limits to Cuba
2013
in this article we intend to approach some of the major controversies that have affected the poetry written in Cuba in recent decades: the reflection on the relationship of poetic language with reality; the writing of the limits, the remains —that what ideology hides—; the crossing of different genres and artistic languages —poetry, fiction, image—, etc. To do this, we analyze two books published by the Cuban poet Reina Maria Rodríguez: Travelling (1995) and Variedades de Galiano (2008). And their relationship to the American “Language Poets”.
Liturgy and Philanthropy Today
2020
The Liturgy is the holy and the sanctifying divine service in which the most merciful love of God for men or the divine Philanthropy is celebrated in the most intense way. The true Liturgy takes place in heaven and in this sense there is only one Liturgy, that of the perfect love of the Holy Trinity in which all creatures are called to participate. Human beings connected through the body to this world can do so through the cultic ritual, which is in essence, a diastole, an exit of God’s love to the world, in order to attract through the systole of his love all creatures to the life of communion. The Eucharistic Liturgy is this universal dynamism that draws the whole cosmos to union with God…
MADI. Forma Colore Spazio
2015
"The work is, it does not represent; the work is, does not ex…
