Mental health promotion competencies in the health sector based on a Delphi study
2018
Purpose Effective public mental health policy and practice call for a trained workforce that is competent in mental health promotion and delivering on improved mental health. Systematic information on what competencies are needed for mental health promotion practice in the health sector is lacking. The purpose of this paper is to investigate these competencies for mental health promotion. Design/methodology/approach A Delphi survey was carried out to facilitate a consensus-building process on development of the competencies. Professionals (n=32) working in mental health and mental health promotion took part in the survey. The experts were asked their professional views on the needed compet…
Beyond “liberals” and “conservatives”: Complexity in ideology, moral intuitions, and worldview among Swedish voters
2020
This research investigated the congruence between the ideologies of political parties and the ideological preferences (N = 1515), moral intuitions (N = 1048), and political values and worldviews (N = 1345) of diverse samples of Swedish adults who voted or intended to vote for the parties. Logistic regression analyses yielded support for a series of hypotheses about variations in ideology beyond the left-right division. With respect to social ideology, resistance to change and binding moral intuitions predicted stronger preference for a social democratic (vs. progressive) party on the left and weaker preference for a social liberal (vs. social conservative or liberal-conservative) party on t…
Äitiys, huostaanotto ja voimaantuminen
2015
This study explores mothers’ experiences of their children’s custody. The empirical data consists of twelve interviews with mothers with a child custody experience. Seven interviews were conducted twice, in years 2004 and 2008. The purpose of the dissertation is three-fold: 1) to clarify the construction of motherhood before and after the custody; 2) to define what kind of support the mothers received after the children had been placed outside home; and 3) to identify promotive and hindering factors for the empowerment of these mothers. As for the method, this phenomenological study drew on qualitative content analysis. This dissertation sheds light on the reasons for child custody, as expr…
Excess electronic recoil events in XENON1T
2020
We report results from searches for new physics with low-energy electronic recoil data recorded with the XENON1T detector. With an exposure of 0.65 t-y and an unprecedentedly low background rate of $76\pm2$ events/(t y keV) between 1 and 30 keV, the data enables sensitive searches for solar axions, an enhanced neutrino magnetic moment, and bosonic dark matter. An excess over known backgrounds is observed at low energies and most prominent between 2 and 3 keV. The solar axion model has a 3.4$\sigma$ significance, and a 3D 90% confidence surface is reported for axion couplings to electrons, photons, and nucleons. This surface is inscribed in the cuboid defined by $g_{ae}<3.8 \times 10^{-12}$,…

Autenttinen vieraan kielen käyttö ja oppilaiden strateginen kompetenssi koulujen kansainvälisissä yhteistyöhankkeissa
2015
Tässä tutkimuksessa selvitimme, mitä tarjottavaa koulujen kansainvälisillä yhteistyöhankkeilla on vieraan kielen oppimiseen ja opettamiseen. Kielitaito on yksi tulevaisuuden avaintaidoista, ja uudet perusopetuksen opetussuunnitelman perusteet painottavat autenttisuutta ja viestinnällisyyttä vieraan kielen opettamisessa. Tässä tutkimuksessa keskityimme tarkastelemaan, miten autenttisuus on läsnä kansainvälisen yhteistyöhankkeen synnyttämissä kielenkäyttötilanteissa. Lisäksi tutkimme oppilaiden strategista kompetenssia selvittämällä, miten oppilaat toimivat haastavissa vieraskielisissä viestintätilanteissa. Tutkimusaineisto kerättiin haastattelemalla 12 oppilasta ja kolmea opettajaa kolmesta …
Longitudinal physical activity patterns and the development of cardiometabolic risk factors during adolescence
2023
Purpose To examine the associations between longitudinal physical activity (PA) patterns and the development of cardiometabolic risk factors from adolescence to young adulthood. Methods This cohort study encompassed 250 participants recruited from sports clubs and schools, and examined at mean age 15 and 19. Device-measured moderate-to-vigorous PA was grouped into five patterns (via a data-driven method, using inactivity maintainers as a reference). The outcomes were: glucose, insulin, homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), total cholesterol, HDL and LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, blood pressure, and body mass index (BMI). Linear growth curve models were applied wit…
Grit og fysisk aktivitet : Utviklingen av grit ved endring av fysisk aktivitetsnivå blant norske ungdommer: En to-års oppfølgingsstudie
2017
Masteroppgave folkehelsevitenskap ME516 - Universitetet i Agder 2017 The purpose of the study was to investigate the development of grit due to changes in physical activity in Norwegian youth. In addition, the study wanted to investigate differences in grit based on school type (age) and gender. This longitudinal study is part of a larger project called "The Relevance of Physical Activity Contexts in the Daily Life of Adolescents" (REPAC). The study is based on data from two time points (2014 and 2016). The sample consisted of students from Oslo/Akershus, Østfold and Agder. 1658 (54.4% from first measurement point) students were included in the study. To investigate grit and physical activi…
Water chemistry, zooplankton and benthos in small lakes within the distribution area of the rare European pool frog Pelophylax lessonae (Camerano) in…
2020
Summary In June 2018, water chemistry, benthos and zooplankton were investigated in 7 small lakes/ ponds within the key area of the European pool frog Pelophylax lessonae (Camerano) in Norway. The geographic distribution of the Norwegian population is minor, limited to a very few small lakes in the county of Agder in southernmost Norway. Since the species is thermophilic, reproduction success only occurs in warm summers. Accordingly, the pool frog is one of the most rare vertebrates in Norwegian fauna, classified as critically endangered in the Norwegian red list. A breeding program is today established in order to rescue this species. The article deals with potential biotope challenges most…
