Spin-resolved terahertz spectroscopy

2016

As such, terahertz spectroscopy cannot resolve the spin structure of conducting particles. Here we introduce the spin sensitivity to terahertz spectroscopy by using the spin-valve configuration of the sample. As a result, the number density and momentum scattering time of conduction electrons in a ferromagnetic metal can be resolved according to their spin.

Affordable, ultra-broadband coherent detection of terahertz pulses via CMOS-compatible solid-state devices

2017

We demonstrate the first fully solid-state technique for the coherent detection of ultra-broadband THz pulses (0.1-10 THz), relying on the electric-field-induced second-harmonic generation attained in integrated CMOS-compatible devices.

Spatial and spectral properties of small area THz generation for sub-wavelength microscopy

2010

A highly localized THz source is a promising candidate for sub-wavelength microscopy, due to its superior radiation power throughput with respect to others near-field techniques. Here, we report on the spatial and the spectral near-field properties of our highly localized THz source.

Photoswitchable Micro-Supercapacitor Based on a Diarylethene-Graphene Composite Film

2017

Stimuli-responsive micro-supercapacitors (MSCs) controlled by external stimuli can enable a wide range of applications for future on-chip energy storage. Here, we report on a photoswitchable MSC based on a diarylethene-graphene composite film. The microdevice delivers an outstanding and reversible capacitance modulation of up to 20%, demonstrating a prototype photoswitchable MSC. Terahertz spectroscopy indicates that the photoswitching of the capacitance is enabled by the reversible tuning of interfacial charge injection into diarylethene molecular orbitals, as a consequence of charge transfer at the diarylethene-graphene interface upon light modulation.

Counter-propagating difference-frequency generation in diamond with terahertz fields

2013

The nonlinear interaction of terahertz (THz) pulses with optical fields in Kerr, gaseous media is a key ingredient for broadband THz detection schemes [1]. Terahertz field-induced second harmonic generation in solid-state media has also been considered for THz detection and as a tool e.g. for liquid dynamics investigations [2,3], while four-wave mixing has been addressed as a possible mechanism for THz generation [4,5]. © 2013 IEEE.

Gas-phase detection of HSOD and empirical equilibrium structure of oxadisulfane

2006

We present the first gas phase spectra of singly deuterated oxadisulfane, HSOD, in its vibrational ground state. More than 100 transitions have been recorded with highest frequency accuracy using the Cologne Terahertz Spectrometer. The molecular parameters derived from a least squares fit analysis proof HSOD to be an almost accidental symmetric prolate top molecule with an asymmetry parameter kZK0.9985. Spectra of c-type and weaker b-type transitions have been recorded in the range from 716 to 772 GHz. The ratio of the dipole moments mc/mbZ2.4(3) has been derived from measured line intensities. The c-type transitions are split by the tunneling motion of a hindered internal rotation, whereas…
