This research focused on factors associated with schizophrenia as well as on the feasibility and effectiveness of group metacognitive training (MCT) in schizophrenia patients with a history of violence in a high-security forensic hospital setting. One of the aims was to scrutinize reasoning ability in regards to jumping to conclusions (JTC) cognitive bias and the expression of cognitive insight (insight into one’s own thinking), a metacognitive ability. Abstract Introduction The aim of the study was to compare the effectiveness of cognitive behavioural therapy interventions for insomnia (CBT-I) to that of a sleep hygiene intervention in a randomized controlled design among shift workers. We also studied whether the features of shift work disorder (SWD) affected the results. Methods A total of 83 shift workers with insomnia disorder were partially randomized into a group-based CBT-I, self-help CBT-I, or sleep hygiene control intervention. Musiikin hyödyntäminen erityisopetuksessa

Musiikin positiivisia vaikutuksia ihmisen hyvinvointiin ja oppimiseen liittyen on tutkittu erityisesti musiikkiterapian saralla. Musiikin on todettu edistävän esimerkiksi psyykkistä hyvinvointia, motoriikkaa ja kielenkehitystä. Pro gradu -tutkielmassani perehdyn musiikin hyödyntämiseen ja sen mahdollisuuksiin erityisopetuksen näkökulmasta. Aiempien tutkimusten lisäksi musiikin käyttömahdollisuuksia selvitettiin myös erityisopettajille teetetyn kyselyn avulla. Kyselyyn vastasi yhteensä 240 erityisopettajaa, joista 163 toimi varhaiskasvatuksessa ja 76 peruskouluikäisten lasten parissa. Perception of basic emotions in clinical improvisations : an experimental study

Recently the Finnish music therapy research has focused on therapy of clients with depression. In music psychology the global interest in felt and perceived emotions in music has been a clear trend for two to three decades. This experimental study shares the interests of both fields by examining perceived emotions in improvised music from music therapy sessions. Soluspesifinen geenien ilmentyminen on molekyylibiologian yksi suurista tutkimusalueista. Geenit aktivoituvat eri solutyypeissä eri tavoin, vaikka soluissa on sama geneettinen perimä.
