Fibre fragment distribution in a single-fibre composite tension test

Abstract Single fibre fragmentation tests are performed for brittle fibres with Weibull strength distribution and different surface treatments. The fragmentation process is modelled and closed-form expressions for break spacing distribution are obtained. The model accounts for the effect of finite fibre length on the initial fragmentation as well as for break interaction on the advanced fragmentation stage. It is assumed that the exclusion zone due to fibre–matrix interface failure and stress recovery in the fibre is linearly dependent on the applied load. This assumption is validated experimentally. Background This article uses the logistic regression model for diagnostic decision making in patients with chronic nasal symptoms. We studied the ability of the logistic regression model, obtained by the evaluation of a database, to detect patients with positive allergy skin-prick test (SPT) and patients with negative SPT. The model developed was validated using the data set obtained from another medical institution. This study analyses the influence of academic level, academic itinerary, word problem’s context and structure, capturing problem structure, and using analogies on problem-solving. A factorial design was used with one within-subjects variable and several between-subjects variables, which have been selected depending on the hypothesis in question. Tässä kokeellisessa tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin sosiaalista oppimista eläinmallissa, jonka keskiössä olivat rotat ja niiden oppimisen sosiaalisuus. Tätä ilmiötä lähestyttiin pohtimalla kysymyksiä: (1) eroavatko rotat lajikannan (HCR - LCR) tai (2) oppimistyylin (itsenäinen - toiselta mallintava) suhteen, sekä (3) eroavatko viivästetyn ja viiveettömän sosiaalisen oppimisen ryhmät toisistaan. Reaktīvā un dinamiskā spēka indeksa novērtēšana palīdz izveidot jaunu vai uzlabot jau esošu treniņu plānu, balstoties uz sportista individuālajām spējām un rādītājiem, novērtēt pliometriskās spējas un uzraudzīt nogurumu, un var palīdzēt sasniegt labākus rezultātus, kā arī samazināt traumu risku. Pētījuma mērķis ir salīdzināt metodes reaktīvā un dinamiskā spēka indeksu iegūšanai un, balstoties uz iegūtajiem datiem, izpētīt šo indeksu pielietošanu treniņu procesos.
