Regional Disparities and Spatial Dependence of Bankruptcy in Spain
2021
Firm survival, bankruptcy, and turnaround are of great interest nowadays. Bankruptcy is the ultimate resource for a company to survive when it is affected by a severe decline. Thus, determinants of firm turnaround and survival in the context of bankruptcy are of interest to researchers, managers, and policy-makers. Prior turnaround literature has broadly studied firm-specific factors for turnaround success. However, location-specific factors remain relatively unstudied despite their increasing relevance. Thus, this paper aims to evaluate the existence of spatial dependence on the outcome of the bankruptcy procedure. Economic geography and business literature suggest that location matters an…
Intégrer des informations en escamots dans les textes techniques : quels effets sur les processus cognitifs ?
1998
Though computerized sytems now offer a wide range of options for accessing and displaying text or text-picture information, little is known about their effects on the user's cognitive processes. In this paper, we investigate the effect of a computer-specific display (pop-up window) which consists in displaying some pieces of information in windows that appear only under user's action. Experiments were carried out to compare the pop-up window device with other devices used on paper. The experiments dealt with text only as well as text-picture documents and involved various tasks. Results are discussed from a theoretical and a practical point of view.

Multidimensional instruments with an integral approach to identify frailty in community-dwelling people: protocol for a systematic psychometric review
2019
IntroductionAn increasing number of investigations highlight the complex nature of frailty; therefore, the use of multidimensional assessment instruments could be useful in clinical decision-making. Frail people are found mainly in the community setting which is why this is the ideal environment for early screening and intervention. For this purpose, it is necessary to have valid, time-effective and easy-to-use frailty assessment instruments. The aim of this review is to critically appraise, compare and summarise the quality of the measurement properties of all multidimensional instruments with an integral approach to identify frailty in community-dwelling people. Methods and analysisMedline…
Facing the music : a critical enquiry into 'the dodo-bird verdict' to develop music psychotherapy theory
2015
‘The dodo-bird verdict’ represents a boggling outcome of research that shows no significant difference between the outcomes of a variety of psychotherapy treatments. Not being able to scientifically discriminate between psychotherapeutic treatments, casts doubt on their theoretical underpinnings, and even on their efficacy. This in turn presents professionals who use psychotherapeutic techniques - including music therapists - with a conundrum: What can explain this inability? And what can be done to solve the problem? Conceptual research methods were used to analyse literature in order to answer these questions. Various weaknesses were identified, both in theory construction and in research…
Uppoudun ja tukehdun: Häpeästä kuolemantoiveeseen ja itsemurhaan Aleksis Kiven teksteissä
2015
The shame-born figures of drowning and suffocation illustrate death wish and suicide in the texts of the 19th century Finnish author Aleksis Kivi. Suffocations by drowning or hanging attract his characters throughout his fictional oeuvre. In tragedies, deviant lives sometimes end in suicide and as forms of death wish, drowning and suffocation also herald other kinds of suicides. The figure of suffocation connects Kivi’s texts to the tradition of western literature. Suicidal tendencies form anomalies to life and lead to textual incoherences. Death wish and suicide challenge delightful trends and interpretations. Death wish during homecoming questions the endurance of hope and joy. From a psy…
TRASLAZIONE DEI SIGNIFICATI E (IN)DETERMINAZIONE DEL CONTESTO NELLA PUBLIC ART: Considerazioni teoriche e storico-artistiche attorno alla pittura urb…
2022
The paper investigates the recovery of classical artworks done through street art by Andrea ‘Ravo’ Mattoni, thus connecting his practice with social responsibility and aesthetic contextualisation emerging from public art in the wake of John Latham’s contextualism and Joseph Beuys’ social sculpture. The choice to recover classical iconography and repertoire from the sites of his interventions offers further the chance to consider the role of contemporary artists in expanding public consciousness and accessibility to cultural heritage by transferring images and meanings from museum rooms to open streets in the original sites. In doing so Ravo Mattoni’s murales try to immerse the viewer into a…
