El artículo tiene como objetivo el estudio de la región batanera de las comarcas del sur valenciano a través de nuevas aportaciones documentales. A lo largo del siglo XV y principios del siglo XVI, en las comarcas de la Vall d'Albaida, el Comtat y Alcoià el número de batanes hidráulicos aumentó hasta los 38 molinos en funcionamiento. El artículo muestra las causas de esta concentración, explica las características técnicas que aportan los documentos, y la adaptación de los batanes al conjunto de la red molinar de la zona. We study here the presence of the numerous Genoese silk dealers in Valencia at the end of the XVth century: merchants, artisans, workers. This settlement signified a crucial economic change in the Valencian traditional silk industry with its Moorish background, and this, in consequence, facilitated reconversion of the textile industry and an increase in its trade. Moreover, international migration and the role of the Genoese silk industry facilitated social mobility during the low Middle Ages and contributed to the origin of the modern European system of relationships in the Mediterranean. El presente trabajo pretende destacar la importancia del tintado de paños en uno de las más activos centros textiles del antiguo reino de Valencia, Cocentaina. Su amplio desarrollo artesanal durante el siglo XV se manifiesta a través de la formación de compañías para el tintado de paños. Compañías que eran suscritas no sólo por tintoreros sino también por pelaires y drapers que con ello querían garantizarse una posición de privilegio en el ámbito de la producción y el comercio regional de paños.

Onda, a locality with an oscillating population between 300 and 600 dwellings in the 15th century and with Moslems and Jews in the local work, becomes a new piece of the puzzle that lets us see the capillarity of the wool textile manufacture in “La Plana de Castelló”. El aprecio que se tuvo por los tejidos islámicos desde el Medievo es patente en la pintura religiosa. A través de estas líneas se analiza la pervivencia de motivos ornamentales en el Renacimiento, en concreto, el uso de letras árabes a partir del estudio de tres escenas de las puertas del retablo mayor de la catedral de Valencia pintadas por los Hernandos. In this paper, the application of a multi-analytical approach for the characterisation of synthetic and natural dyes in a historical textile is presented. The work is focused on a historical dress of a Sicilian noblewoman, dating from about 1865–1870. Firstly, SERS on fibre was performed, in order to individuate the classes of dyes employed. The SERS spectra suggested the presence of two main dyes: mauveine and orcein. In order to confirm these preliminary results, two different extraction protocols were applied. [EN] Chemical burns, mainly produced by acids, are a topic of concern. A new sensing material for the detection of strong acids able to be incorporated into textiles has been developed. The material is prepared by the covalent attachment of 2,2 ',4,4 ',4 ''-pentamethoxy triphenyl methanol to a mesoporous material which further is included in a nitro resin to obtain a colourless composite. The response of this composite to diverse acid solutions was tested showing the appearance of an intense purple colour (with a colour difference higher than 160) that can be monitored by the naked eye or could be easily digitised to feed an instrumental sensor. Durante los siglos XVIII y XIX la Península Ibérica, marcada por un claro predominio agrario, despuntó a causa de su industria textil ubicada en el Mediterráneo. La Comunidad Valenciana intentó con timidez el despegue industrial del sector textil mediante el apoyo institucional de la Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País y la asimilación de los modelos extranjeros tanto técnicos cuanto de proceso de producción. Hubiera podido iniciarse la revolución industrial en la Comunidad Valenciana, que, sin embargo, tardó en llegar.
Searching Silk Fabrics by Images Leveraging on Knowledge Graph and Domain Expert Rules

The production of European silk textile is an endangered intangible cultural heritage. Digital tools can nowadays be developed to help preserving it, or even to make it more accessible for the public and the fashion industry. In this paper, we propose an image-based retrieval tool that leverages on a knowledge graph describing the silk textile production as well as rules formulated by experts of this domain. Out of several possible similarity scenarios, two have proven to work best and have been integrated into an exploratory search engine.
